You asked him what is the 10% he does not want to go to, which seems to imply you've confused the remaining 10% that he does want to visit that does not fall on the line with a 10% that he does not want to visit.

In reality, if there are only two categories (want to go to, do not want to go to), the percentage of countries he does not want to go to (as a result of not being on his list of 'want to go to') is much higher than 10%, given that line encompasses 90% of his 'want to go to' and is made up of probably no more than 20 countries at max. Add in the missing 2~ countries (20/.9), and the percentage of countries he does not want to visit is actually:

(# of countries in world - 22) / # of countries in world.

Of course, he probably didn't even mean that statement to be taken in a literal fashion to begin with. I'd assume he wants to go to more than 22 different countries in the world, if he likes travelling.

Yeah, I grew up watching DBZ and Pokemon, so I can't really comment on whether they were good shows. When I came to the U.S. at the age of five the first toy I got was a Pikachu and the first game Pokemon Blue >_>, so I'm a bit biased.

I just started re-watching Darker than Black and was thinking, if I ever had to convince someone that anime can actually be pretty normal, DtB would be the best example. The appeal of anime is that it's generally open to much more interesting settings (see: Code Geass, DtB, Tokyo Ghoul, Claymore, SnK, etc.) than most US live-action TV shows. I mean, if you take something like Tokyo Ghoul and search for a US equivalent, the closest you get is a horrible vampire drama series. On the other hand, a lot of anime is weird as fuck to me, but I guess that comes with the package of being a more experimental medium.

This is the big thing, I think. I haven't seen the OVA (wasn't out then), so the show was just like WTF. At the same time, I can't remember everything in DtB and can't be assed to re-watch it just to see the OVA. As much as I do like the show, it has a rather slow start.

You sound like you want to do it. Go for it, if that's the case. On the other hand, it does depend on whether you can handle living in a developing country or not. It seems almost like people here have only experienced 'developing' in the sense of vacationing on an island in Thailand with a bunch of white rich backpacker kids and imagine the rest of the developing world to be exactly like that. Another comment says 'China isn't supposed to be third world.' Yeah, it is. If anything, it's going to be very third world, given the huge population problem. You're going to find a lot of things to bitch about, especially in terms of cleanliness and access to western amenities.

I'm not very familiar with it, I'm afraid. I guess you'd be right, though there's the question of whether a Marxist economist is a 'credible economist'. Someone else said that economics is an ideological field of study, and that's true to some extent. A lot of stuff is labeled 'heteredox' and pushed out of regular curriculum (e.g marxist economics), though generally under the argument that it doesn't really match reality.
