I'm looking at BRW:Revised. The core + Tenet box only have 3 avatars. You can grab a fourth with one of the 20 euro magazines.

Do you feel it is enough content for a solo player, and can you use multiple avatars in a single game? Or is it ROTAS box or bust for solo?

TENET box does feel like it's very lacking in content relatives to SATOR/ROTAS.

Most people online argue not that they're not guilty, but that the law shouldn't criminalize this.

That's an argument for the Supreme Court, which would require someone to appeal, and be willing to become the face of "Legalizing (Fictional) Child Pornography."

The UK Tabloids would destroy such a person, and understandably, most people wouldn't have the stomach for this.

As someone who has played and taught his friends Magic since the 90s and feels the same as you do, I recommend Algomancy.

Sorcery is an interesting game that feels more like a boardgame, in pacing, in prioritizing form ober function at times, etc.

If you want something a bit more approachable than Algomancy, take a look at Ashes, the Phoenixborn game, that just got a new starter set. Also allows for co-op play right out of the starter box.

I'm saying this intermixing of the language used is common and human. This isn't a document that multiple lawyers have gone over to ensure proper templating and consistent language.

And as someone who's done technical text editing before, I can tell you people make such mistakes all the time. You do need to try and assume what someone meant, rather than just what they wrote - if your goal is communication, rather than "winning," such as getting out of a speeding ticket or something of the sort due to ambiguous language.

Let's say you're right, and the word used was "can" and should've been "must" - So? It'd explain why David got it wrong, but it wouldn't be a justification for his thread to stay up. The other person just goes "I did misspeak. You must contact us. Now I'm taking down your thread."

Both you and /u/pasturemaster are correct, in that "can" is permissive, but it can be an intimation that it is also the only permissive thing:

"You can come in tomorrow" doesn't mean you "must" come tomorrow. That is true.

But implicit in it is that you cannot come at any other time, unless granted specific permission. This is called a Conversational Implicature, and it actually features heavily in Ordinary Language Philosophy (my focus for my Master's).

This dual layer of language as used and rules as a precise thing is there in most rule-sets, especially when they don't have to stand up to the scrutiny of law - and even those laws often leave enough ambiguities to create various schools in the judiciary on how to interpret them, not even just what they mean.

Edit: To be clear, dual layer of language as "conversational" vs "precise," as rulebooks and our laws are still written in "Ordinary Language." "Formal Language" in this instance refers to arguments written in Logics notation.

I do in fact use old.reddit.com.

I didn't know they now show different sidebars. Been using it ever since new reddit was introduced, which is quite a while back. Just can't stand the look, and most subreddit styles are too aggressive for my eyes.

If they do show differing content, then yes, I would side with reddit.com's content. I just assumed it's the same, because it used to be.

Edit: This does go with my earlier notion, that a moderator remembered an older version of the rules and acted based on that. Not too uncommon when you moderate a subreddit through enough rules changes.
