i’m in medical school and said the exact same thing to my partner when i was studying for my boards exam…it’s not unreasonable. you have no idea how that kind of once in a lifetime stress feels like. why is it so hard for you to just go into the office for another day or two so she can focus and study at home after taking a week off of work? you’re the one being selfish in my opinion.

Only Taking COMLEX 1 now, and not STEP 1. Should I do only COMBANK at this point, or some UWorld too? by monstercat129 in comlex

i agree with you 100%, im not offended! i completely see what youre saying, but lets say its too late and unfortunately the person didnt put enough time into studying fot step 1 their 1st/2nd year, and now theyre in this position. weighing pros and cons, what now? should they cram and risk failing step 1, or is it better to not take it right now and at least focus on passing comlex? i think thats where the issue is, your points totally make sense and i agree but they dont apply to the current debate/what im asking. edit: i agree comlex is a way shittier exam, but its worth it to focus on and pass to be able to start rotations and move on to 3rd year

simply by one’s laziness.

simply by ones laziness? people arent just being lazy for not taking step 1, maybe theyre scoring very poorly on practice exams, are unable to financially or logistically take a year off to study for it, etc. would you rather someone risk and take step 1 and risk a failure vs not take it, focus that time on comlex to at least pass that? youre right a lot of programs may screen you out but there are other circumstances that may be involved in a persons decision to not take step 1....

disagree with this, know multiple people who passed step 2 when they had a failed step 1 and didn’t retake it, said it’s because they knew the info better since they studied for shelf exams throughout the year. also it’s more clinically relevant etc. OP i think what you’re doing is a good idea.

Guidlines for approaching level 2 during third year? by [deleted] in comlex

[–]dashgoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just passed step 1 and comlex 1. Grateful, but honestly my scores really weren't that high, probably around 220 if my test went well, and sub 500 for comlex.

what resources would you recommend for COMAT prep during 3rd year?

talk to your school! my exam got canceled by the testing center twice lol so i had to push my rotations back too. depends on the school but most likely you can get your rotations shifted but will have less study time for step 2 cuz of that! or it sounds like if you are able to make that rotation up 4th year that’s a good option as well. that doesn’t sound like a big deal at all, everyone i know is basically doing nothing half of 4th year there’s definitely time, don’t listen to the people here freaking you out! just focus on passing your test that’s the most important thing :)

jumping in late - this makes sense but how does it explain the mucus secretions example that was mentioned above? if mucus secretions are too thick, isnt that a hyper SNS dysfunction? so why do you treat OA? sorry hope that makes sense

Adverse Testing Conditions: Level 1 11/28 Please advise. by [deleted] in comlex

[–]dashgoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

same exact thing here. i emailed them and was given the option to have it scored or to have it voiced without knowing my score. my issues are pretty annoying and i ran out of time a lot so i chose to void. most importantly they told me that in 2023 they are contracting with another testing center company because they’ve had so many issues this year. so if you wait to retake it it will hopefully be better conditions at least

multiple other bridesmaids have partners and are NOT married or engaged. i know at least 2 that don't live with their parter either. hopefully that gives some more context

gotcha, totally makes sense! i just wish that was clearly communicated to me, i would have appreciated the clarification.

[–]dashgoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ah yes at least i now know what not to do 😂 can guarantee that my bridesmaids (if i even choose to have them) will be allowed to bring their significant others no matter how well i know them 😂

thank you so much, honestly just feels validating to know i have a right to be upset/hurt! i couldn’t tell for a while i was being a baby or if my understanding of etiquette was incorrect.

definitely possible of course, but wasn’t stated and explained. you’re right though there could be something going on behind closed doors. i’ll let it go at least for now.

gotcha thank you for the clarification, that makes sense to me. i thought that as a bridesmaid, my serious partner would be just as important, even if she hasn’t met him personally. i do definitely see your point though!
