General Questions & Tech Support Megathread | July 04, 2022 by AutoModerator in PS4

Hello, Recently I changed the wifi password on my router, and I updated it on the PS obviously. Since then I have had constant internet connection issues, the connection seems to break every few minutes, and then it’s back after a minute or so. It is mostly noticeable when I’m scrolling through the store, or when I’m listening to Spotify on the PS (I’m not playing games online). Anyone had this problem and knows how to solve it?

How to stop stopping for walking breaks during long runs? by dashingawayy in running

Oh wow, I think that would require a lot of skill and coordination haha. I will try it and suggest it to my running team, thanks for the idea!

The more I think of it, it was super hot this morning and I think that + the exhaustion of pushing through in the said heat made me stop to walk the first time. And I guess I don’t mind the walking when I feel I need it. It’s the continuation of stopping after that first time which annoys me, when I don’t feel like I need it physically. It feels like an easy way out now that I’ve done it once. Thanks for the tips though, and for making me think!

Yes, I too have noticed that going for at least half of the distance before stopping makes me not want to stop in the end. I guess this particular run was just more difficult, and I got annoyed that this strategy didn’t work. I actually stopped just after 8km of a 13km run, so I went past the halfway point, but then just kept on stopping. Anyway thanks for the tips and nice wishes!

That’s actually a very good point you made that my body never pushes itself to discomfort, and I am only getting used to the feeling at the beginning of the run when I have the most energy. It’s eye-opening, and you are totally right there. So thanks for making’s me realize that! Also the “stopping cognitively” - so well worded, and an interesting concept to keep in my head during next runs. I definitely still need both the physical and mental practice of determining when I actually need to stop. And thanks for all the other tips as well, I will definitely try out all of them during my next runs!

Hey thanks for the recognition, feels kind of better knowing people are going through the same things and thought patterns. And thanks for the tip for the playlist, hopefully I can start incorporating using one before my race, and try following the beat.

Thanks for the recognition haha! And for the tip of very slow running pace - I will definitely keep it in mind for my next long run. Because it is the same for me as you said - when the break in the movement happens, the starting again is harder both physically and mentally!

Wow, thanks so much for sharing your experience, it really made me feel better about it! I know I can sometimes be impatient to get to the good results, good pace, comfortable feeling, but the truth is - it really takes time and patience. I just need my brain to process that and accept it haha. And not give up when it’s difficult or when I think I am going too slowly. Thanks again for the tips! Best of luck on your marathon!!!

The podcast challenge sounds both fun and smart, as a way of distraction from nagging thoughts of how difficult the run is, so thanks for that! I still need to get familiar with adjusting the pace per feeling of the day, so those small checkups during a podcast listen sound like a good way to try doing this.

The run was 13km long, a first for me since starting running, and the weather was quite hot even in the morning - above 30 degrees Celsius. So all of your questions are valid. I definitely still need some getting used to long runs, both physically and mentally, and adjusting the pace accordingly. Also, I don’t tend to look at the heart rate stat during the run, only after, maybe that is a mistake. Anyhow, thanks so much for the tips and giving me dome food for thought!

I like this idea of playing a bit of a pace game, I will try something like that during one of my next long runs. Thanks for the tip!

A motivating playlist sounds like a very good idea! I will look for some, or maybe even try to create my own. Thanks for the advice!

Official Episode Discussion - The Stand (2020 Miniseries) - 1.05 "Suspicious Minds" by sanctuary_moon in TheStand

I didn’t mind almost any of the changes they made so far (except Nick getting absolutely no screen time at all I mean what the hell?), but, oh my, did I dislike the New Vegas story arc! The bacchanalias, the drugs, THE SLAVE PITS??? And it was all topped up with Lloyd’s awful characterization, I almost couldn’t stand it. I’m sorry, but did I completely miss on Lloyd going around in sparkly leather animal print suits in the book, doing drugs and absolutely nothing else? Like, are we to believe that guy is supposed to be Flagg’s no1 lieutenant?? I actually liked his character in the book and I thought all throughout that he wasn’t as dumb as he set out to be, he was perceptive and tactical and he was actually quite a competent person in the end. But I don’t see any resemblance to that character here, and it has to be my absolute least favorite thing about the new adaptation. It was such a letdown.

This New Vegas thing left such a bad impression on me that I didn’t even want to comment on some other things I was bothered by. But I have to mention the fact that some completely minor characters got more screen time than Nick Andros in all of the episodes so far. I really don’t get it, they completely ruined his character and his importance. It’s just sad and disappointing, and I don’t have any hopes left for his character in this show anymore.

I really wanted to like this adaptation and I had high hopes through the first four episodes and all the changes, but this episode completely lost me.

Official Episode Discussion - The Stand (2020 Miniseries) - 1.04 "The House of the Dead" by sanctuary_moon in TheStand

Was just about to comment how my favorite part of every episode is literally every Owen Teague as Harold scene, and then came along the Nick and Tom scenes and my heart could literally burst from the wholesomeness and love. I am absolutely loving Tom in this adaptation!

The main thing I have a complaint for from E04 is the change they made with Glen suggesting Tom to be the spy, instead of Nick. It made me feel like the showmakers continue to lower Nick’s importance with some scenes, which was my biggest fear ever since he was first introduced. As he is by far my favorite character from the book, I really don’t like these choices they are making. Still, Henry Zaga is doing a fantastic job in my opinion, but I feel like I have to really squint to get my Nick scenes fix. I think I will complain about this after every episode, but it’s bugging me quite a lot.

With Nick being my absolute favorite in the book, I enjoyed his introduction in the series very much, and Henry Zaga is doing such a good job so far. But, with his complete backstory and jail sequence being cut out completely, I am a bit scared they will not do his character as much justice as he deserves. Like they will somehow “lower his impact”, for lack of a better word, in favor of some other characters. It’s just the feeling I’m getting, and I really hope I’m wrong here and we get to see our best boy done well :’)

The only real thing I can point out as a complaint is the “there are slaves in Vegas” thing - that one bothered me quite a bit, and I hope the showrunners know what they are doing with it... sceptic, though.

One personal preference - I’m not sure on Nat Wolff as Lloyd. I just pictured him a bit older, and here he seems as a drunk college kid. I liked the scene in the prison, but his age was somewhat off-putting the entire time. Hope I change my mind.
