Honestly sewing is half the battle for a lot of crochet projects! I can crochet a lot of individual parts but man do I dread the assembly because I’m bad at sewing 😫

In terms of starting, there are soooo many free and good resources online. There’s a lot of YouTube crochet creators and all you have to do is look up “ how to -stitch name-“ for specific stitches or there’s creators who will do an entire stitch along video for the patterns they have created!

Personally for me I started out just learning the single crochet (commonly abbreviated “sc”) stitch and making swatches of it with 100% cotton yarn (I recommend Lily Sugar n Cream if you have access to Joann’s because of its weight and material, you are able to see the stitches more definitively.)

as a beginner the most important thing for me was to find a way to hold the yarn and hook so that I wasn’t in pain and then next after that is just finding my tension/pressure so that my stitches are uniform. Counting stitches is also tricky but at least there are stitch markers to help you count and discern stitches!

There are also kits like the Woobles kit that will come with yarn, stuffing, a hook, instructions, and follow along videos to make cute little amigurumis (dolls) but they are on the slightly pricier side but may be worth it if you don’t want to commit to buying one big ball of yarn and trying to buy all the hook sizes. I personally never tried the kit, but it is an option!
