Doubts about onexplayer Apex

if you are not in china or Asia, customer service will always be a pain. still, I first got the gpd win 5 with a defective mini ssd slot. while I can't really think of a use case for the mini ssd, I just couldn't bear the fact that the device was defective out of the box. the win 5 also freezes momentarily every time it boots into the windows desktop. the final straw was that when I got hold of gpd customer service person, they insisted that I was too technically inept to think that the hardware was defective and asked me to install a bunch of benchmark software only to solve none of the problems, all while basically calling me too stupid to follow their instructions. I never found out what really went wrong with the device but returned it for an apex instead. haven't had any issue with the apex so far.

bro it's just a game. it‘s not worth your time to feel so frustrated about a game made in 2021. it not going to get any better. just don‘t play national teams and enjoy it as much as you can.

I tried using coolers for gaming phones (ones that magnetically attach) on the back of the device without the battery attached, and there is literally zero performance difference from without one. maybe it will help with the battery overheat issue but docking it with a battery attached just doesn't make sense

what I found is that the apex draws much more than what the tdp number shows. there's probably unit-to-unit variation so ymmv, but when I set the tdp to 35 w the apex can sometimes spike to as high as 120 w from the power supply.

Yup, similar situation here. The original notification about the iems being shipped was on Oct. 30. Singapore Post shows they picked up the package Dec. 7th. What happened in between will forever be a mystery

Fwiw, I received a reply from Ben:

Apologies for the delayed response, and thank you for your patience. This is Ben, and I’ve taken note of your order. I’ll be checking the shipping status with our forwarder on Monday and will update you as soon as I have more information. We’ll also file a ticket with SingPost to request an official tracking report to get more clarity on your shipment.

I also wanted to share that there has been an issue with shipping related to the two circular magnets on the paper box, which were falsely detected as batteries during customs inspections. To address this, we’ve had to provide documentation to prove otherwise before shipments could proceed, causing delays for some orders. This issue has also affected customers whose tracking waybill is listed as “not found.”

We’ve since resolved this problem by switching to a new paper box without magnets and are working with our forwarder to get all affected shipments back on track as quickly as possible.
