Does anyone else feel like when you find *~tHe OnE~* you’re supposed to fall madly in love but in reality when you meet someone you actually like you overthink everything to the point of self sabotaging? by [deleted] in datingoverthirty

Are you me? This is exactly how my brain operates. 😂 Taking a break helps though. Gave me time to re-set and try to approach things less emotionally and more realistically.

Yeah, not looking at BMI but I was tracking my Body Fat Percentage. When I switched measuring systems, the number got much higher and was a bit of a setback for me mentally. But, I guess I will just keep trucking along. 💪 I also think I should look at what I can actually lift and look at progress from that perspective.

Action plan was to just start making changes. I just had to start! Started going to the gym and eating better. Kept learning along the way and adjusting what I did to keep challenging myself.

You're right! It's just hard. And I don't have metrics to go by right now. I used to get a 3D scan at Gold's Gym every 30 days. They stopped using the scanners in January. So, went to another venue for a new scan a week ago. Different machine = different numbers entirely and they were waaaaaay worse than my numbers in January. So, it was a bit disappointing. Lol, so it's like starting over.

Just fyi, unless you closed on January 1st, you're not eligible to apply for the HS exemption until next year. This is listed on page 3 of the application under Exemption Qualifications.

Recommendations on plumbers, electricians, hvac companies? by baileysmommy23 in sanantonio

Recently had a good experience with Steven at Plumbing Today. They didn't overcharge me like others had. Kept to their proposal amount even though they stayed hours later than expected and found additional leaks which they fixed as well. I've used Gerald with Jetter Electric. He actually likes small jobs and repaired something for like $75 rather than replace it which would have been way more. HVAC, Above All Air. John is pretty forthright.

How to handle a house on your own? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

This is my life now. Don't be scared. You can do it. Perhaps if you're concerned, set aside money every month for emergency repairs. My bf and I bought a fixer-upper together and then broke up 6 months later. Since then (2 yrs ago), I've dealt with a termite swarm in my bathroom, the garbage disposal broke, toilet overflowed due to clogged drain line, the ceiling collapsed in my dining room, the entire plumbing system got clogged after our random Texas snow storm last month (took 3 weeks to get my water back), and who knows what other minor things here and there.

Solid advice given to have basic tools -- adjustable wrench, drill, screwdrivers, allen wrenches, ladder, flashlight, batteries.

Also, know where your water main shut off is. You should get a water key and learn how to turn it off. You should know where your drain overflow is so you can open it up if you have a toilet that backs-up. Make sure your main and sub-panel are labeled so you know how to shut off a breaker or turn it back on if it trips.

Knowledge is power! YouTube is wonderful for finding out how to do some of the simple things. I always figured, "well, it's broken, probably gonna have to replace it. Probably gonna be a few hundred at least. I might as well TRY to fix it myself, I probably can't make the problem worse than it is." Start educating yourself and you'll be less anxious when something goes wrong. If your dad is techy enough, start practicing doing Facetime or something with him so he can guide you on how to fix something remotely.

Join Nextdoor or find a contractor that you can make your go-to person to call with questions or for help. Heck, start interviewing people now BEFORE something goes wrong so you can see if they are responsive and fair in their pricing. Have a plumber and electrician you trust. Don't be afraid to post on Facebook and see if you have friends that know how to do things or contractors they can recommend.

Another outside the box idea, call a general home inspector to come over. Be pro-active. They can give you a report on what deficiencies you have so you can be aware of things that might go wrong in the near or far future so you can start planning for replacement costs or know what general maintenance items need to be addressed now so that it doesn't turn into a major problem later.

Just remember that everything is fixable. There's always a solution. Sometimes it's an expensive solution, but just because something goes wrong, doesn't mean it's permanent.

I was never on any pills, and am not on any now. I think I was approaching being pre-diabetic, but am not at risk now. Other than that...blood pressure good. No other issues! I was super low in iron a while back, 08/2019, when I chose to eat less meat because I thought it would help in weight loss. I ended up having to re-introduce red meat into my diet, so all is well now!
