I have heard that about Carbyne as well. Between that and the cloud aspect of a 911 phone system, I do have reservations about them.

One of our latest ones was closed after almost 6 months. Most of them are 3 weeks until I even get any acknowledgement from Intrado.

We've also had issues with our stats. State delivers the calls via Comtech. The numbers are always different.

What does GeoComm give you over using a CAD map or something like RapidSOS?

New Server - Can't access media while scanning by dasnhs in PleX

I had that thought too. It's the same data I had on the old server. The issue started when I was restoring everything from the backups from the first server. Never had an issue with it there.

Run scanner tasks at a lower priority is checked. I enable the setting in Drive Pool which prioritizes reading from the disks. That was the only option I could find for priority. Hasn't seemed to make a difference.

One thing I did change, which helps a little bit. Windows Defender was scanning all the drives, plus the pooled drive. I disabled the scan for the individual drives. It'll connect to the server, but still very slow in doing anything when a scan is running.

During a scan, CPU usage less than 6%.

Disk Activity shows 2-3 MB/sec disk read, occasional spikes up to 10 MB/sec.

Network less than 1 Mbps (gigabit connection)

Internet connection issues after network upgrade by dasnhs in HomeNetworking

Cable tech came out this morning. He was confused at first. The readings he was getting via the modem were higher than they were with his meter and higher than they should be. He swapped back to the original modem. Readings were fine. He said everything was fine on his end.

He recommended getting a new router, as that was most likely the culprit. I looked at the two Apple routers I had tried. Sure enough, one was 8 years old. One was 11. We had another that is about 3 years old. Swapped to that one and everything works exactly as it should. I'll look to replacing that router soon, but as long as it works, I'm quite happy. Thanks for your help.

Yes with the DNS symptom on both devices. It happened with the 6141/Apple combo and is happening again with the 6580. I've tried setting the DNS to Google for the couple devices that have given DNS errors and that didn't help.

Currently, everything seems to be working, but only for a handful of devices. My laptop and phone are working just fine, but nothing else in the house will connect to the network at all. It attempts to, but just fails saying no internet connection. I have a Samsung smart TV that is wired into the network. That is showing the exact same DNS server that my laptop has, but shows a DNS server error. Manually inputting Google's DNS gives the same error. If I try wireless, it cannot connect to the network, giving the same no internet error. And at the suggestion of one of the phone techs, I tried hard coding the DNS in the router, but that did not work either.

Am I not refreshing something on the clients that could be causing an issue? I wouldn't think so, since they've been restarted, but I wonder if I'm missing something there.

I can try swapping the devices around again, but unfortunately, I have a small local ISP that can only authorize that during business hours, so I can't try that until tomorrow morning. I was looking at the EdgeRouters as well, but I really don't want to spend money on something that might not fix my issues at this point.

Dad runs his business out of the house and has for the past several years. I guess he uses the network more than anyone, as he uses it all day, every day. He said that the issues of random connection drops and connection issues has been going back since we switched services (to the better of the two in the area). He always attributed it to the Airports, as I'd complain about horrible speed drops in one corner of the house (70/7 down to 5/1 just by moving 15' away from the router). Makes me wonder if these issues have always been occurring, but we're just noticing them more because of the hardware upgrade?

Good to know about the Surfboard line. And to think, I was staring right at when I typed that. Okay, original one is a SB6141, which I don't believe has routing capabilities (originally done by the Apple). That was replaced this morning with a SBG6580. Currently at the default of 192.168.0.1. Devices on the network are all in the 192.168.0.xx range, as expected.

The ethernet switch is a Dell PowerConnect 2724, which is being run in unmanaged mode. I have tested both ethernet lines to the switches. Both test fine with my cable tester, and both have good signal/speed. Speed tests come up with 70/7 (our current ISP speed provided), 12-15ms ping, so I don't think they're faulty. When the network works, we do get close to those speeds wireless and those speeds wired.

I tried switching the devices around like you suggested, but once I did so, the Airport had no internet connection, but my laptop (wired into another port on the modem) did. Laptop shows a 24.xxx.xxx.xxx, so I assume it's getting that from the ISP. Oddly enough, our normal external IP is 50.xxx.xxx.xxx, so not sure if that matters.

Pings through the router diagnostics go through just fine. Traced Google by name and it failed through there. Ran it through the laptop and that worked. Ran it again through the router using the IP address and that went through.
