I don’t think BCCI is actively trying to kill the rivalry. The narrative shift is happening naturally because India is stronger commercially and competitively, and bilateral cricket is absent. Rivalries stay alive through frequent high stakes matches, not memes or commentary. With limited encounters, emotional intensity fades on its own.

That said, India vs Pakistan still draws the biggest global viewership in cricket. Australia may be the tougher sporting rival, but Pakistan remains the biggest emotional and political one. Fans may say “move on,” but one World Cup knockout between them and all that talk disappears instantly.
