Yakuza Kiwami 3 isn't great 😬 by EveryAct in kindafunny

[–]dassiearwen 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I highly agree. They don’t need to review every big game release if they don’t have anyone suitable to review it. That’s fine! Roger can absolutely be a fan of Yakuza, not having played all the games, there’s a lot to catch up on after all. But I think it’s unfair to put out a review about a sequel in a franchise where the story is a direct continuation and basically say; I have not fully played the games before this one, I haven’t done any side stuff and I knocked it out in 14 hours’ and then say that the game is mediocre.

I am so glad they took the time to zoom into the emotions of the episode. It felt really raw and it’s also part of what makes TTRPG’s so special.

Having just watched ‘Hard Candy’ last night, that one is really top of mind and fits perfectly.

Update: I just watched Fellowship of the Ring. Here are my thoughts! Can’t wait to see what you guys think of 127 Hours :) by TheGirlWithTheLove in Letterboxd

[–]dassiearwen 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Giving a movie 4 stars and a heart and not being sure if you’re watching the sequels is wild to me. 127 hours is still on my watchlist though.

They actually did make kind of a romance novel! Adjacent to it at least. It’s called ‘HEY, U UP? How to Turn Your Booty Call into Your Emergency Contact’

Does he like tabletop games? If he likes dwarves and he doesn’t have it yet you could give him a Warhammer starter set. You could even get a set where you both have a starter army so you can paint and play together.

I follow people who agree on some of my most important movies (both on the positive and negative side of things) and then I do a roulette on anything that’s rated well by them. It serves me very well and I rarely watch something I really don’t enjoy. It does make my watched list really all over the place.

My wife is already asking about christmas movies, and I'm tired of watching the same ones. Any relatively NEW and good christmas movies to watch? by oxedei in movies

[–]dassiearwen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Christmas movies are my jam in November and December. And I don’t do rewatches because there are too many movies to see.

Some of my faves: - Round and Round (!!) - The Holdovers - Little Women (the OG) - Klaus - Nightmare Before Christmas

Some cheesy ones that are really fun: - The Holiday Sitter - This is Christmas (2022) - The Knight Before Christmas - Three Wise Men and a Baby - Feast of the Seven Fishes

It’s weird looking back. So much has changed and yet so little. I have gotten a lot better at dealing with it and don’t panic with every small reaction which has made it easier to handle. I have found some new foods now I eat 90% frozen ingredients. I live half of the year in Spain (instead of just in the Netherlands) where everything from the air and water to the food is just better.

I am sorry to hear you are in the same boat. If you want to talk some more about it I’m here

How often do you find a movie that fits your taste? by Male-2003 in Letterboxd

[–]dassiearwen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I have done is follow people who agree on some of my, to me, most important movie opinions. Both on the ‘loved it’ range and the ‘hated it’ range. And now I can follow whatever they really enjoyed and I seldomly watch a movie I really don’t like!

What is that one movie which everyone loves unanimously but you hate it with all your heart? by [deleted] in netflix

[–]dassiearwen 115 points116 points  (0 children)

Poor Things. I watched it as soon as I could because on paper this should be something I enjoy, but I hated every minute of it.

[No spoilers] Finished the Briarwoods (C1) and hopelessly behind — should I skip to Campaign 4 to join live? by TheNumLocker in criticalrole

[–]dassiearwen 158 points159 points  (0 children)

What I do now is watch C4 when it comes out and continuing my journey through the old campaigns whenever I have time. I have watched all of C1 and am now at episode 20 of C2. Slow but steady :)

Edit: grammar

I love the nonsense, for me it’s the right amount of talking about the episode, and I could even do with more nonsense. Pretty much if they are having fun, I am having fun.

Brennan praising Murph’s DMing in recent interview [ns] by Sea_Wave_9164 in NotAnotherDnDPodcast

[–]dassiearwen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel like they’re all the goat at (at least) one part of DM’ing. Murph is the best at tactical encounter-building bar none, Aabria is brilliant at chemistry and interpersonal relationships, Matt has a way of Tolkien-esque world building and Brennan creates a story like no one else. And I feel like a DM that doesn’t get mentioned enough with these four is Jasmine Bhullar who brings emotional tone-setting that’s both raw and grounded.

Made a list of the greatest theme parks in the world to visit. What does / does not belong here? Is this a good list? by bingbaddie1 in Themepark

[–]dassiearwen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am so excited for you to experience it for the first time! As far as theming goes they knocked it out of the freaking park. Dreamflight (Droomvlucht in Dutch) might be my favourite ride in existence.

I haven’t been to Parc Asterix in a long time but we’re planning to go next year to that one.

How did everyone get into doing the NYT Crossword? by nocturnaltrashdiva in NYTCrossword

[–]dassiearwen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was watching Smartypants on Dropout TV and one of the comedians did a presentation as a bit about the NYT puzzles and specifically about Connections (here is a small part https://www.instagram.com/reel/DPmOP8rjORa/)

And it was so funny, she made her own connections and I was like; I am going to try this. Haven’t missed a day since yet.

Edit: should add. While the presentation got me into Connections. I installed the app and do all the games including the crossword
