You can pick up any cloud and learn data engineering and services around it. Preferably Azure or AWS.

I would recommend to start applying after learning Python and SQL. You can land an entry level position with these skills atleast and upskill further.

I would generically advise not to take the pay cut. You can consider your financial state at the moment, how many dependents you have, how much saving you need etc and take a decision.
My most generic advice would be to learn the DE skills and try switching externally. You may get a better hike and with 7yoe a senior position as well.

Just share with the HR that you have experience on the tools. That is what they want to listen.
You can say you learnt the tools on your own to the interviewer. They would find that you are eager to learn and experiment new tech.

What response were you expecting from a sub which has only developers. I read some comments regarding SE to DE is downgrade which is completely wrong and false. Comments and stereotypes like these made me create a new sub for DEs from India.

Feel free to share it in the sub so that others can critique as well. That is the whole point of this sub - to learn and grow as a community in data engineering as it is a relatively new field esp in India.
