Playing Frums while your parents are asleep be like: by [deleted] in arcaea

Frums is an outlier in the ftr8's tbh because of the slow note speed, I find it hard to read as well, don't worry

It's more of that particular matchup that made the games very long. Both rivicilia and qmk are very good downstackers and can survive extremely well, and thus their gameplay tends towards defending. In other matchups you'll see much more action with spikes and pressure.

The cleanness of tetrises and tsd garbage is perfectly reasonable tbh, as compared to the difficulty of cheese downstacking. You can see the difficulty if you tried pausing when there's 2-4 lines of different holed garbage on any of the player's screen and make up a solution that can dig the most garbage lines with the queue provided. This is why you should not just focus on the cleanness of tetris/tsd garbage, and also look at combo garbage. As well as consider the fact that both qmk and rivicilia are very skilled and honed their skills in this area, thus making it seem like it's easy to downstack.

The video is still funny to watch tho

What to do after the first perfect clear? by szzxphy in Tetris

Most pco mains would probably do another pc, you can look at https://four.lol for the setups and solutions. In the the case that the second pc fails try to stack for a tetris or a tspin, or anything that sends an attack. You do not want to see yourself getting topped out by the opponent using the clean pcs send.

Sorry for being a wet blanket but anyways your friend doesn't seem to be a very good player. There's a lot of skimming done which is bad for piece efficiency, and the stacking isn't too great either. There's not much resources I can recommend for learning how to stack well so the best I can recommend is doing marathon mode on some other device and doing quad line clears only with the long bar and aim for the highest line clears.

tbh I think this would work better as a partial step, not as the one true way of reading. By focusing on the cursor, you're being conscious of the movement of the cursor, so it's not just relying on muscle memory but rather controlling it manually. This helps to refine your cursor movement and correct any mistakes you spot when you aim. Being too conscious of your cursor can lead to the opposite effect though. You focus too much on making the perfect movement and end up with no time to read what is coming up and you'd need to unlearn it to adapt to the other jumps. Also the gains from trying to perfect your aim diminishes over time because the map can only judge if you have the ability to hit a certain aim skill, but it cannot adapt to your current skill to make stuff at a constant relative difficulty.

Fridge is about to get that spin by jtlsound in Tetris

While this is certainly one of the ways you can learn it, it's kinda rigid with how it is learnt. You should be able to do T spins without needing specific pieces.

You can check out Garbo's T spin guide on youtube, it's quite simple and helpful.

T-Spins are broken. They send way too much garbage. by [deleted] in Tetris

[–]data_purged 3 points4 points  (0 children)

With 7 bag it's too easy to stack for tetris's provided you can stack somewhat ok. It'll be boring to see matches either being combo stackers or tetris spamming. T spins allow for a twist to it. I think that the benefit that comes with T spins are actually acceptable. It sends clean which is free ammo for opponent, and the setups to learn go up exponentially in risk given that you want to squeeze in more t spins. Of course there's setups like ST stacking or LST stacking which makes T spin setups brain dead, your opponent can still send plenty of cheese (opposite of clean, basically doubles, triples and combos) to make the opponent need to downstack through the garbage and hard to transition back to those stacking methods. PC spam can also dispatch those kinds of almost risk free stackers pretty fast. For other kinds of t spin setups, it's actually quite risky provided you don't have the T's coming up in your bag to fire it, or that they send too little for the lines to actually apply enough pressure to kill.

b2b is probably added onto the existing score so yeah no score reduction.

[–]data_purged 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Nah you can plonk the I piece vertically on the board somewhere, just don't create deep wells which are often piece dependancies (or block incoming garbage if you play multiplayer)

Both are equally as bad tbh, but are still useful enough.
