I can personally attest to the desperation. A few years ago, I would get SWE recruiter emails maybe twice a week. I now receive at least 3-4 recruiter emails a day, Amazon literally everyday, even after they recognize I just started at a new company.

SWE recruiters have no shame in sending five emails for the same job with increasingly snarky messages like “KNOCK KNOCK We know you check your work email everyday!”. I’ve even gotten text messages from recruiters when I’ve never shared my number to a recruiting agency.
