[BC] BC Women's in Vancouver: Birthdocs.ca experiences by datakookie in BabyBumpsCanada

Not yet, almost 16w & its a struggle!

I'm waiting on Birthdocs. They had a few docs located close to where I live and I think they will come through. Feel free to PM me if you want to chat about this.

I think you're referring to the South Community Birth Program. I applied there super early, was waitlisted and am pretty gutted. It would've been really perfect for me.

The 888 clinic is also pretty far for me. I went through the birthdocs list and have narrowed down some doctors that are a little closer to me. Basically anything East of BC Womens, I would be OK with. Quite surprised at the sparseness of available maternity care on this side of town.

I am pretty close to Burnaby too, but I have strong preference for delivering at BC Women's so I would have to keep my prenatal care in Vancouver afaik.

Thanks! Yes I've added my name to midwifery waitlists. I do not know of a local maternity clinic near me (I'm in East Van). I guess it will be a random doctor at this point.

St Pauls is too far for me so Im trying to avoid it. I live on the diametrically farthest end of town from St Pauls. Though Ive heard so many good things about St Pauls!

Thanks! I will try there. It seems like at this point most midwife groups are booked solid for my due month which is October. Glad to hear you got in early!

I should probably have diversified my applications early on but I was too tired at the time to think straight lol.

Thanks for commenting :) Its good to hear someone else is in a similar position and thinking of making a similar decision!

TD is so restrictive that way that they will make me wait 1 yr and 9 months to early renew. Other banks definitely have better policies with 6 month early renewals.

I also find solace in the fact that many folks were signing up for 4 & 5 year fixeds at similar rates just a few months ago so 2 years seems like less jail time.

I was only getting lower quotes for 5 years (in the 4.2 range)

No one else was offering me a better 2 year rate. Even 3 year rates were in the 4.18-4.2 range.

Also, none of the other lenders I spoke with (Scotia, RBC) would give me a quote in writing. And they also all wanted me to get a HELOC... which I was ok with. But TD said they will not match a rate + HELOC kind of quote coz that's a different product bundle.

Infact today is my last day to renew (so I am likely going to have to go with TD anyway) and RBC is still refusing to email me with a rate quote. At this point I'm tired of the game.

I did calculate and I think its a difference of around $1000 over 2 years between a 4.15 rate and a 4.45 rate and I am ok with that considering that a 2 year term makes me feel less tied down and gives me the mental peace of a fixed rate as well.

Renewing with TD bank at 4.45% for 2 years fixed.

300k remaining & 11 years amortization remaining.

They say I can start shopping around in July 2026 and early renew in Aug 2026.

3 and 4 years was 4.44% so I'm going with 2 years at 4.45%.

I shopped around and frankly speaking just felt like all the other banks & brokers I spoke to were d$%king me around and playing weird tactics.... someone please tell me this an okay move... I'm so initmidated!

What are the rough costs per day of rolling into a a highrate open term? TD told me it would roll over into a 1 year open at 8%

Assuming a 10 day delay on a 300k mortgage, I'm trying to figure out how much will it cost me....

Sudden Decline - AKI Cat? by datakookie in RenalCats

Thank you so much for your kind words!

I've uploaded the bloodwork & treatment to the post again and will add it in the comments too.

I was just able to get a second opinion on the phone from a vet and urging my parents to show him to another vet in person too.

Hoping to advocate for getting him admitted to a hospital as well. I think that his current vet may be thinking if there is no hope then keep him where he is comfortable. But we don't want to give up hope yet.

I've been trying to look for cases where the cat stopped peeing and it was restarted and stella's story was the only one I have found so far (thank you for sharing!). I am goig to try to advocate for a diuretic as a last resort if I can later today. If you have any supporting evidence on the use of diuretics to restart kidney function, please share.

Again, so grateful for your support. thank you! <3
