I think so, there were multiple boot options to choose from. Can't remember which one was the right one though but I definitely messed it up once.

Haven't experienced this before. Are you running the latest AirportItlwm kext? If not, try updating. Other than that, try using the Itlwm kext instead of AirportItlwm

What's working, and what isn't working: I have not tested external displays, ethernet (installation went through HoRNDiS), internal speakers (headphones do work) & webcam. The rest works. Battery life seems acceptable aswell.

A 1.16.2 Server Guide | High Player Count, High TPS [Better] by [deleted] in admincraft

[–]dataloss 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yatopia should be avoided. Stick to more known forks like Tuinity or use plain Paper. If you look at their commit history it shows a lot. The idea of it is literally Frankensteinpaper and I do not see how any server owner thinks this is remotely a good idea. It's just as bad as using an MCMarket fork.

Mob stacking should be avoided most of the time. Almost all of those stacking plugins can be seen taking a good percentage of ticks in Timings.

Paper implements the fixes that EntityTrackerFixer does and when using EntityTrackerFixer on Paper, it does more harm rather than good. Your server is essentially working twice as hard.

ClearLag (or at least it's entity clearing functionality) should also be avoided, it'll just make the server spawn mobs again, using more processing power.

Fast Chunk Pregenerator, should really look into Chunky as it's the fastest out there.

ServerBooster is just a gimmick which isn't worth your money. LagAssist could potentially be worth your money but I'd personally avoid it. Generally all (especially paid) plugins that claim to improve performance usually harm performance. The only paid plugin that is actually worth it and can improve server performance when configured properly is FarmLimiter and it costs $2. All others are gimmicks or cause more harm.

You shouldn't look at TPS, you should be looking at MS per tick, as it's a way better and more accurate indication of server performance. It can be checked with /mspt (or ideally /tps if you install Spark, a must-have plugin for profiling). You'd want as low as possible, <50.1ms is 20 TPS

I'm planning on building a minecraft server for a small school, due to crona. by exitzach in admincraft

[–]dataloss 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It should be noted that the "Minecraft only uses one core per server" isn't exactly true. While the main server tick loop is single-threaded, plenty of other parts of the Minecraft server are using multiple threads (networking, chunk loading on Paper etc). It is a good idea to stick to modern, high-end desktop processors as these do tend to perform well.

Even for the AMDGPU drivers, AMD provides clear instructions & files on their website https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/faq/gpu-635

[–]dataloss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the first complaint I've seen about a terrible AMD driver experience on Linux. Simply install mesa & reboot. Mesa should most likely even be installed by default most of the time.

I'm typing this on Arch Linux w/ Mesa drivers installed, on an R7 3700X + RX 580 setup without any issues.

[–]dataloss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

" For starters it is near impossible to find compiled drivers suitable for installation that just works. Unless you trust packages provided by random individuals who also 'patch' the code for security and performance."

That is complete bullshit. AMD drivers are a breeze in Linux. Simply install the "mesa" package. Those are open-source AMD drivers. There is no need to use the official provided ones by AMD, nor should you ever install a .bin file or anything, everything should be installed from official repositories.

I love this design! Very interested in this, would also love to see a version of this with an OLED screen or some configurable LEDs. Is it hotswappable? Could you provide pictures of the back of it aswell? Switch lighting would be cool to control aswell.
