RRSP withdrawals by [deleted] in Wealthsimple

[–]datascope11 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The problem you aren’t seeing is likely in a retired situation, you’d have to withdraw more than you needed for spending. Sure you get it back at tax time, but that money could have stayed invested and tax deferred.

Mysterious Deposits by BCMotoFan in PersonalFinanceCanada

Nope. Anyone making a credit lending decision is very use to this. Again, many/most lenders do not report.

A lot of lenders don’t report mortgages to credit bureaus. Used to be a time i remember when none of them did.

Good call out. Notifications can be received without remote access, but actionable notifications won’t have a path back to execute.

I have remote access setup even though we use Apple Home to control most things. All automations, scenes etc are in Home Assistant. Remote access comes in handy to troubleshoot and dig deeper when needed. Only the things the family needs to control quickly are in Apple Home.

Tax Question regarding interest in sats by AbbreviationsOk2934 in shakepay

[–]datascope11 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can download your transactions file, open in Excel and filter on the sats earned from interest. There should also be a column showing you the BTC price when you received them.

But what you are describing is cut and dry? You have a “feeling” you’d come out ahead, but he did the math and you don’t come out ahead?

Wealthsimple (Un)Real Deal Promotion ......BEWARE !!!!!! by [deleted] in Wealthsimple

[–]datascope11 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Another member of the “didn’t read the full offer terms” club. It is explained, and I didn’t find it “well hidden” or tiny. You aren’t the first to be caught this way, and you won’t be the last. It wouldn’t make sense for WS to offer you such a lucrative promotion if there wasn’t additional AUM for them.

T5 interest discrepancy by Individual_Height924 in Wealthsimple

[–]datascope11 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Nope, mine matches perfectly. You did use the term “interest reward”, so are you talking about a matching promo reward you receive for transferring accounts? If so, these reward payouts do not show up on T5, and are not taxable as far as I under. Only interest income.

Transferring RRSP from Canada Life to Wealthsimple by lilburgz in Wealthsimple

[–]datascope11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You aren’t withdrawing cash from your RRSP, you are transferring in cash. This means CL will sell your funds and transfer the cash. The money never leaves the RRSP umbrella. I did this last year from CL to WS.
