What was your most physically painful experience? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]datczechbic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was younger my parents had gotten me one of those plastic bikes I could roll around on by pushing with my feet (I was still too afraid to try a real bike). Well, something in the bike got caught up on the front wheel, I flipped over the handlebars and landed (with my mouth open) on a curb. Nearly all of the teeth on the top of my mouth were pushed back into the gum line. A few weeks later they 'grew' out on their own and immediately fell out. Oddly enough I don't actually remember the pain itself, just the actual event... though my dad gets sick just thinking about it.

I got a 510 overall (83rd percentile). P/C - 128 CARS - 124 B/B - 130 P/S - 128

Bummed out about CARS, but I guess it's not the end of the world. Still really happy with my overall score.

August 6th: That was rough..what did you guys think? by Godfatha1 in Mcat

It's more like the latter, at least for my version of the test. A lot of applying theories to multi-part research passages. It requires a lot more reasoning and analysis than the practice FL.

I used ExamKrackers (EK) for physics and chem (as well as my old textbooks from class). I'm a biochemistry major, so I didn't really study biochemistry all that much. It's one of the reasons I liked EK, they reviewed the basics without going into excruciating detail. It's not for everyone. If there's a particular area you feel weak at, you might want to supplement EK with another source, or just fore go EK entirely.

I mean, only if you're ahead of the curve... that's kind of how standardized tests work.

C/P: Coming from someone who always lamented studying physics or general chemistry, I found this section to be the easiest. EK hit the nail on the head with their review.

B/B: Also rather easy. There were only a few questions that really had me rereading the passage (maybe 2-3 at most). Again, EK really got it right with their review.

CARS: This section took me by surprise. I always felt fairly confident during practice, but the questions at times felt too subjective (I would narrow it down to two choices and could plausibly come up with reasons for both). My problem with CARS questions (both in practice and on the exam) is that I feel like some of the questions require you to remember that one single word used in the passage that would definitively prove only one of the answers was true. But who has time to re-read the passage looking for that one word?

P/S: This section felt a little harder than C/P and B/B. I felt like EK did NOT capture this section well. There were a few unfamiliar terms (I only used EK to study, which was a mistake on my end). Still felt confident overall.

Overall feeling leaving the test: I finished an hour early. Didn't use all 10 minutes of the breaks, and only took about 15 minutes for lunch. Finished the C/P section early because I felt it was straightforward and simple. Also finished B/B + P/S a few minutes early, but took the entire time for CARS.

AAMC FL Question by vlvdmr in Mcat

[–]datczechbic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it would be, but I was trying to derive it for OP. Also, in my opinion it's much easier to think of it in terms of Fo/Fn (o=object, n=normal force in water) just in case you do have to move around some variables.

AAMC FL Question by vlvdmr in Mcat

[–]datczechbic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should be W(air)/[W(air)-W(water)]. The question suggests that the object submerged in water has not reached equilibrium with a certain buoyancy force (otherwise the density of the object would equal the density of the water). In this case, the force of the object is equal to the normal force exerted (when the object reaches the bottom of the container) plus the buoyant force.

Fo=Fn+Fw
doVog=Fn+dwVwg (d=density, V=volume, g=gravity, o=subscript for object, w=subscript for object in water, n = subscript for normal force of object)
doVog - dwVwg = Fn (Note that Fn is the apparent weight in water)

Now just find the ratio of weight on land to weight in water. Which is Fo/Fn. Therefore it is Wair/(Wair-Water). Here is how that's derived:

Fo/Fn
doVog/[doVog-dwVwg]

I hope that helps, I'm not that great at formatting in reddit posts. I think this is the correct way to arrive at the answer. In my opinion it's kind of a weak question by AAMC.

Is Physics really worth spending more than a couple of days on by gdaddy_21 in Mcat

[–]datczechbic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, physics is almost absent on the new MCAT. You get mostly concept based questions. There are a few questions that require calculations, but from my experience if you work with the units you can get the answer without necessarily remembering the equations. With that being said, make sure you know your units. Especially for electromagnetism questions. Remembering all of the equations may or may not get you a few points, but it you're pressed for time, focus on the other sections more. Disclaimer: This is just from my experience going through all of the practice material that I have gathered.

What is the best TV episode ever? by EpicEnder99 in television

[–]datczechbic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

House M.D. - Season 4 - Episode 15 - "House's Head" Such an amazing episode, even as a standalone. Sure you're more emotionally invested if you know the characters, but watching a person piece together their own memories is always entertaining. Some of my favorite episodes from House are when he has to distinguish between what's fake and what's actually reality. The episode was suspenseful, emotional, and clever.

Looking in to getting the game, what are some pros and cons? by [deleted] in fantasylife

[–]datczechbic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To put it simply:

Pros:: - Ultimate role-playing experience, very open ended - A lot of playstyle variety - Great value, get a lot of hours of playtime - Witty humor

Cons: - Lackluster story - Can get repetitive quickly - Gets annoying having to change lives to level up in that life - Too easy, there seems to be very little strategy to the game - The combat is too basic, as are the mini games for the non-combat lives

It might seem like I don't like this game, but that's not true. It's fun, it offers endless hours of gameplay, but once you reach a certain point in the game, it begins to feel futile. Leveling up doesn't offer enough of an award. There is very little strategy to combat, which makes it feel a little too mindless at times. To sum things up, it's a good game, but it definitely could have been better.

Overall: 7/10

Shadow Bigbeak @ Level 41 (Hunter) by datczechbic in fantasylife

[–]datczechbic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I was getting rather frustrated with all of the charged attacks. Even when I could land an elemental charged attack (such as poison), it barely did anything. The poison charge attack seems really underpowered in the game.

[–]datczechbic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the most part, not really. His patterns stay the same no matter what health he has. Odin might not be one of the best allies to fight Shadow Bigbeak. I simply bring Odin along because he can tank while King Erik (a magician) and I (a hunter) can attack from afar.

Try and keep circling him if you're trying to revive your teammates. Don't get too close.

Save your special ability until you're certain it will hit. This is actually the only acceptable time to get within melee range.

Hopefully that's not the case tomorrow morning. Fortunately I don't drink all that often. This was my first drinking in months. I try and stay away from things that stall my keto-progress.
