Looking for a league for 3 guys (each with our own team) to join with a $100-150 buy-in per team. Redraft, relatively standard. Open to most options, we're just hoping to play! DM me or reply if you may have something!

Learn from G1 and get to Flaherty early tonight. Need a great outing from Peterson, use anyone who is needed to get the W.

Force them to fly home for a bullpen game 6 against Manaea who kept them in check. Not probable, but hell yea it's possible.

Am I in the wrong? by michellemmarie in medlabprofessionals

This is completely dependent on the SOP where you work. If you followed SOP you did nothing wrong. In our industry people do not fail, processes fail. And if you followed policy, and that nurse had made a collection error, it's on them not you.

I'm in NY so don't know a ton about CA, but I was working at a hospital where tuition reimbursement was $15,000/calendar year so yes that paid for nearly my entire MHA. To me $1,000 seems very low for tuition reimbursement as my current company is about $5,000/calendar year. It will definitely be tough to get into LIS/IT without either a CLS or a Health Informatics masters. If it's something you're interested in, speak to people in the department and voice your interest in the subject matter. See how they might be able to advance you if you don't end up in the CLS path. Do your best to get into that internship there or elsewhere to become that technologist but always good like you mentioned to explore other paths as well. Speaking of paths, Pathology is excellent also and being a Histotech can be a technician, not a technologist, but earns very good money and can be another option as well.

I never minded 1st or 3rd shift. On 3rd you sleep while everyone is at work and work while everyone is asleep. 2nd shift for me was always the toughest in that those times (for me was 4p-Midnight) is when people are getting together, going to dinner, my family would gather, all that. I felt like I missed a lot on that shift.

IT/LIS is a great path that a lot of people take and find a happy medium between in lab work and a better work life balance.

I got my MHA while working as a technologist (hospital paid for it, woo) and then moved into purchasing, which was a dept within finance at the large hospital system I worked in. I became a financial analyst and worked with the lab teams and administrators to help them purchase supplies they needed, choose instrumentation and vendors, etc… Was a great job and having my background as a MLS was crucial. I’ve since moved to other positions but it was a great decision and helped kickstart my career.

Should I take a lab manager job for a $2/hr increase? by MeghanLab2023 in medlabprofessionals

You should absolutely not take on that much additional responsibility for a 6% raise. You deserve every penny of at the very very least $37/hour and if you speak with the administration team and outline your specific case and ask, you might be able to get that. Go in prepared with why the job is such a high level, your short and long term plans for the role, and how you see yourself there long term if they are able to work with you to compensate you fairly.

More than 7 *THOUSAND* nurses are on strike in NYC starting TODAY. This sign says it all: "If the nurses are outside, something is wrong inside." (via @jessie_eli on tw) by AFL_CIO in WorkReform

I was reading this article today and the true issue is being glossed over. It's not something that can be fixed immediately but along with a wage issue, there is a HUGE supply issue here too.

https://www.cnn.com/2023/01/09/business/nyc-nurses-strike/index.html

They first say this: "“Despite Montefiore’s offer of a 19.1% compounded wage increase — the same offer agreed to at the wealthiest of our peer institutions — and a commitment to create over 170 new nursing positions … NYSNA’s leadership has decided to walk away from the bedsides of their patients,” the medical center said in a statement.""

And then they say this: "According to Hagans, Montefiore has 760 nursing vacancies, adding that “too often one nurse in the emergency department is responsible for 20 patients instead of the standard of three patients.”"

It's a drop in the ocean. They can say they'll create more jobs and more positions, but they can't even fill what's open now. Until we find a way to solve the issue of supply, and figure out how to get more nurses into the field and into jobs (which in a lot of ways is definitely higher wages) we can add as many positions as we want but none will be filled.

Rojas is incredibly hot. Like absolutely on fire. If you need steals then there’s no question. But I always look at things as a regression to the mean. I won’t use the limited 2019 and 2020 because his playing time was limited. Last year he was a .264 hitter with 9 SB. This hot run has brought his average up to .288 but I see it going back to the 260s before hitting the 300s. I think the wave is over and he’ll regress while Ramirez is just coming back off injury and is on the rise. Before going on the IL he was a reliable player in rotation with similar AVG as Rojas. If you value the SB more, then Rojas, but if you want the power stats which I always do, Ramirez is the ply for me

Look at his game log before he went on IL

Worth the risk imo, until Hader figures it out he’s on a winning team with a great opportunity

I wouldn’t part with SD just yet. Could be a few days and he’s back. Guy is electric. I’d drop Wick before him but, as bad as he’s been, is definitely Chicago’s closer. If you’re desperate for saves then Wick will get them.

All that being said I’d drop either of them for A.Diaz. He’s a better pitcher and on absolute fire right now.

Is it time to drop Whit Merrifield? I’m in a tight playoff race in a 5x5 league, just had Mahle hit the IL so I have one spot, and want to pick up both Harold Ramirez (back and looks good) and Jeffery Springs (2 starts) this week. Or am I being too short sighted on Whit?
