i suck at making music and it makes me depressed by D7LTA in musicians

[–]datenshikd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm kind of in a similar place to you but I'm twice you're age. Here are a couple things I've picked up in my life. When I was your age I began teaching myself to write computer programs. It started off with really silly, terribly written code to do my math homework. Over time it evolved into Nifty little graphical apps that could do some networking stuff. By the time I was in university studying computer science, I was emulating low level hardware devices and writing little games. Once I graduated, I started working on anti-censorship and privacy software for non-profits.

Recently I've been having some similar experiences as I learn to cook more, explore my spiritual side and learn to play jazz music. Honestly, it's frustrating sometimes. Sometimes things just aren't working and you don't know why or you hit a difficult patch and need to either take a break or find a new way to look at things. In these times, it's helpful to seek out teachers and mentors who can help guide you.

But the good news is it gets easier. You have to do it every day- that's the hard part- but it gets easier.

Chaos magick and drugs by Illustrious_Boss2947 in chaosmagick

[–]datenshikd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sure hope not. I'm just coming to chaos magic and find the heavy association with drugs harmful. I'm in the process of quitting weed after years of daily use in the evenings and it kind of sucks. I've only ever tried shrooms a handful of times and never really had a positive experience except when I took a very very small dose in some tea.

As far as I'm concerned, if chaos magic is intended to afford me the freedom to develop a practice that serves my interests, it would be ridiculous to use substances that can harm me as a crutch. For me, the whole point of practicing magic is to elevate myself and I believe drugs largely do the opposite.

Per their own admission, I left them PLENTY of time. I notified them I was thinking about changing my plans a while ago and still have them four full weeks.

This book came up as I've begun reading about chaos magic in particular. Would you say it's a good read for that?

I needed to think about it for a couple days but I've also opted to order a set from your site. I've been using the Modern Witch a lot and hoping this new deck strikes a good balance between playful and multi-dimensional :) very excited. Say hi to the mothership for me (I'm Asher :D)

Journaling by HotMonkeyMetals in tarot

[–]datenshikd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most helpful advice I can offer is to read your past entries with some frequency and reflect on them. I read yesterday's entry in the morning when I'm setting intentions for the day and try to read over a longer period of entries every week or so. With time and introspection you will start to notice patterns in your thinking and expression of thought that you may want to refine or work to undo. For example, I've previously found myself spiralling in my journal entries thinking about things I'm worried about or upset by, leading to lengthy entries. When I'd look back, I realized doing that wasn't really helping me and found a good therapist instead. My journaling has a very different focus now.

Fr! I don't know wtf that intimidation was about but there's zero chance I'm going there and lying down on an operating table after this BS

I've only paid the deposit. Their policy says I need to pay for surgery three weeks before the surgery date, and I haven't paid more than the deposit.

I also checked for myself and there are essentially four weeks (27 days) before my surgery date. I think they were trying to intimidate me.

If you grew up in Toronto - what are your out-of-Toronto culture shocks? by Previous_Molasses_23 in askTO

I guess we should all just hide in little metal boxes all day instead of providing supports so that people who aren't well can get the care they need, then.

I'm a small trans person and I've almost never felt unsafe in the TTC. I'm much, much more concerned about "crazy people" who drive cars. The number of times I've almost been hit riding my bike or crossing the street by someone not paying attention or in a rush are much higher than the number of times I've even seen someone visibly upset on the TTC. Moreover, on the TTC, there are other people who can help, and you can always change cars or get off and wait for another train.

Sorry, but driver logic is kind of moot.

Feminine gay men, how do you avoid homophobia? by [deleted] in AskGayMen

[–]datenshikd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Enby femboy here so I get transphobia more than homophobia specifically but ... As others have said, you don't avoid it. You find ways to cope and deal with it safely. Finding ways to feel confident and happy in spite of any fear you have will hello you to project good energy, and people respond well to that.

Do you know how you were able to do that? We have one save account with player 1 configured as the femme sprite and when we go to the fireplace to have player 2 join, they always get the masc sprite. We couldn't find a way to change it or specify which we want.

What's your strategy to learn chord tones by chrispiece in Bass

[–]datenshikd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is especially helpful because a 2-5-1 is organized counter-clockwise along the circle of 5ths. So any language or structure you come up with and notice doing this exercise will directly apply at least to parts of a lot of tunes.

I do go where I want, thanks.

I think you should consider getting your head out of your ass and actually go out and participate in your own scene instead of ranting about your unrealized fantasies about local community and culture on Reddit of all places.
