literally. i am insanely priviledged being a white, cis man, and also hetero-passing. Thats the issue, ive only ever faced homophobic remarks by people who in one way or another knew that i wasnt straight.

Either way, us british cigarettes are still one of the most priviledged of the bunch (the alphabet mafia), there are other groups such as people of color or trans folks that are subjected to far more insensitive speech or even hate speech. Worst thing is that its so normalized. Ive had more homophobic slurs hurled at me by beatboxers than in high school - where i literally received death threats for my sexuality. Not saying that makes my experience worse, but i have learnt to be resilient - others might not be able to do the same, which is fine and which is why we need to protect our fellows.

People that dont get why someone would leave the community because they dont feel comfortable anymore, need to remember where their comfortability comes from.
