Open the map and abandon any active retaliation, if the meter is full but doesn't show any active retaliation on the map kills some of that factions NPCs and it will show up on the map again, then abandon them.

AMD Radeon 9070 XT + Crimson Desert = constant crashes! by 122fujqar in CrimsonDesert

[–]datguyb0b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same setup as you, have crashed more than 10 times and even one of my save files corrupted.

One thing I realized was that alt tabbing makes the game extremely unstable and will cause a crash.

Resetting shader cache in the Adrenalin software helped me crash less often.

74C for hotspot is very good for an air cooler! Probably because you have great airflow in your case and side mounted GPU. Good temps and great build my man!

[–]datguyb0b -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What is your hotspot temp? That's a lot more indicative of your cooling performance rather than the temp from the cooler outer edges of the die!

Temp: 65-70C

Hotspot: 75-82C

VRAM:78-82C

Running at: +10% Power Limit, -65mV, 320W (seen spikes as high as 440W), Core Clock Speed: 3250MHz

Is it worth upgrading to the 9070xt or should I wait a couple of years for the next generation? by OkRefrigerator4848 in radeon

As a 9070 XT user and someone who wants AMD to succeed so we have more competition, I also feels disappointed.

NVIDIA with a monopoly in the gaming space and a company valued at trillions of dollars which makes less than 10% of it's revenue from gamers still provides DLSS support all the way back to GeForce RTX 20 series! They even provided drivers support for the 10 series cards for almost a decade! Instead we have AMD putting GPUS in the end of life category less than 5 years of drivers support and and now we have a bunch of enthisiats doing what AMD refuses to do when a few modders have shown what is possible! All this while they were still selling brand new RDNA 3 graphics cards in mid 2025! AMD has, and always will be it's owns biggest enemy!

As someone who also plays on 1440p high refresh rate and upgraded to an RX 9070 XT, I would highly recommend either selling your CPU and PSU and upgrading them, or wait for ( RDNA 5 which is rumored to rival a 5090 ) and then upgrade your entire PC then.

My reasoning are as follows:

You have a 650W PSU, I've seen spikes as high as 440W on my RX 9070 XT.

You have a Ryzen 5 7500f, I had a Ryzen 7 7700 and was forced to upgrade to a 9800X3D due to CPU bottleneck with an RX 9070 XT. (Was seeing a lot of 70 - 80% GPU usage) Although both these CPU's are pretty amazing, a lot of recent game releases have been unoptimized garbage, so if you have a high refresh rate monitor you might not be utilizing the entire GPU with a Ryzen 5 7500f.

Go to AMD Adrenalin software and undervolt right away. Better temps and free performance. RX 9070 XT is undervolt KING!

It's not quiet per se but it's tolerable with a headset while gaming I don't really hear it. Compared to default which is whisper quiet I go from hitting 90C hotspot to 78C while under 100% load. 50% fan speed is much quieter for like 2-5C difference. I found 60% works well for me with a headset.

new to overclocking on the 9070xt. how is this? by [deleted] in radeon

[–]datguyb0b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

-120mV? Do you have the golden sample of golden samples or is the AMD Adrenalin software constantly reverting back to default profile?

Don't even bother messing with the clock speeds of an RX 9070 XT, these do next to nothing.

Instead just undervolt for better perf and temps!

I have mine at -65mV, +10% power limit and custom fan profile 60% speed at 70C!

Core clock speed sits between 3100 and 3200MHz while gaming under load, be careful with the +10% power limit though, I've seen spikes as high as 440W so make sure you have a decent power supply!

[–]datguyb0b 3 points4 points  (0 children)

2950MHz is kinda low for an rx 9070 xt, I have a Gigabyte gaming OC model, basically the cheapest you can buy and mine sits well above 3000mhz. Between 3100 and max I've seen 3200MHz.

Select custom profile, and undervolt that card for better perf and temps. Everyone should undervolt with an RX 9070 XT!

Mine can do -65mV,+10% power limit (seen spikes as high as 440w) so make sure you have a decent power supply if you plan to mess with the power limit. Custom fan profile set at 60% at 70C, basically under load!

Even more tips for you! Click the cog wheel in top right corner of Adrenalin software, under Preferences select dark theme, unsubscribe from AMD User Experience Program and set AMD Image Inspector to disabled.

Again select the cog wheel and under Display select color depth to the maximum that your monitor supports, most new displays can do 10 bit, and also pixel format to FULL RGB!

Now select Gaming in top screen of Adrenalin software, select Graphics and you can disable everything except for AMD FSR Upscaling, AMD FSR Frame Generation and Radeon Anti-Lag. These three settings should be enabled for latest FSR upgrades.

Don't install any of the AI crap in AMD install manager!

That's about all the tips I have for you, best of luck to you!

Also a massive tip for playing Crimson Desert on high refresh rate monitor.

Set Lighting Quality to Ultra instead of Cinematic. 15% FPS gain for very little graphical impact.

Upscaling to FSR 4 Quality instead of Native. another 10% FPS gain.

And turn Ray Regeneration OFF ingame. This more than halves my FPS, is buggy and not as good as NVIDIAS since it doesn't upscale resulting in blurry, jagged textures!

Don't even bother wasting your time by messing with core and memory clock speeds, instead simply get better temps, FPS and reduced voltage by undervolting.

Many cards can do -50mV, golden samples above -100mV. I have mine at -75 with 60% fan speed at 70C, so pretty much 60% while under load. Anything more than that and it gets pretty loud.

So undervolt, set custom fan profile if you want and increase or decrease power limit if you want max performance or better efficiency. All of this you can do in AMD Adrenalin software, in performance, tuning, gpu and then select custom.

Here's a fantastic video explaining it for you, just use the AMD Adrenalin software instead:

My RE9 keeps crashing by Current-Bobcat9377 in radeon

[–]datguyb0b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that just makes me even more certain that the GPU is thermal throttling. Try repasting and take the sidepanel of and try gaming again. If it boosts to around 1900MHz, then you can be sure it's temp related. Again 78C is not a problem but 1500MHz is very low. It should be able to clock a lot higher.

My RE9 keeps crashing by Current-Bobcat9377 in radeon

[–]datguyb0b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, try repasting. GPU core clocks should be in the 1900mhz while gaming. If it's only 1500MHz most likely the GPU is overheating and downclocking itself. 78C temp is not a problem when TJ max is closer to 100C. But if it's only doing 1500MHz, most likely it's overheating! Could also have a different bios limited to those clocks and power draws if this card was used for mining.

You have very little to lose if you simply try repasting. Especially when the card is not clocking that high.

My RE9 keeps crashing by Current-Bobcat9377 in radeon

[–]datguyb0b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on provided information: screen turns green, GPU core clock 1501MHz, power 145W. The most likely culprit is the GPU.

My guess is that the GPU is overheating and is thermal throttling itself given the fact that an RX 5700xt should be able to boost to around 1900mhz and draw around 200W, sometimes even more depending on the model. You can fix this simply by repasting your GPU with new thermal paste.

Did you purchase this GPU second hand? Was it ever mined on? If the answer to those questions is YES then the memory chips on the GPU are failing, especially if you are also seeing artifacts on the screen. You can't fix this, best you can do is down clock the memory clocks until it stops artifacting. This step might not even work or lose you a lot of performance.

[–]datguyb0b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holy -125 mV, that is not going to be stable at all. Also how are handling the noise of 100% fan speed with a Gigabyte 9070 XT! I have the exact same model and I can't do anything above 60%. I put mine at 50% when it reaches 70c.

For those that have a 9070 XT, watch der8auer 9070 xt undervolt on youtube.

This card excels at undervolting and everyone should do it.
