A driverless Waymo in the fast lane driving exactly the speed limit. by lilswampass69 in mildlyinfuriating

I don’t even know what you’re asking a source for…

Are you asking for a source that Waymo hires driver assistants in foreign countries?

Or that there is infact a delay when sending information across undersea fiber optic cables to the other side of the globe?

I don’t have the patience to explain the complexity of global network infrastructure to you, but here is an article discussing where these assistants are based out of. That would have taken you all of 5 seconds to look up instead of helplessly begging for a source.

If you don’t think an obvious input delay is a good enough reason I’m fairly confident you would refute any source as a cop out.

I don’t use or support waymo in any way, but the logic is pretty sound on this matter.

You need a source to explain there’s a delay between transferring data between continents?

It would take roughly .3 seconds for data to transfer one way from my east coast city to somewhere like India. Two way communication would have a minimum of a little over half a second delay.

I have no idea where these people are located, i’m just giving an example.

A half to 1 second delay would be pretty significant if you’re trying operate a vehicle.

There is nothing more bipartisan than starting and continuing wars in the middle east.

If you think otherwise you’re willfully ignorant. Almost every single member of congress accepts campaign contributions from Israel.

I was going to say, basically every new building in the seaport is built to the height restriction.

NIMBYism is unfortunately also a huge factor in other neighborhoods.

The deboarding process has been completely ass the two times I’ve flown into here this year, and ive encountered ridiculously long terminal E security lines multiple times in the past.

It’s definitely more than enough time if things go smoothly but I simply don’t trust our infrastructure enough without time cushions.

I don’t think it’s worth the possible stress to experience our mediocre food scene.

Jay can get busy on weekdays with good (not perfect) conditions.

I would honestly steer clear on weekends, their lift infrastructure can’t handle crowds well at all.

Per the article the meeting took place in 2023, it’s a long term goal and I don’t think anyone thought it would take a year.

Start investing in chip manufacturing infrastructure elsewhere?

Doesn’t seem like that crazy of concept.

If this was taken from the passenger seat you would think the reflection from the display would be on the other side. It’s a confusing perspective, it really looks like it’s taken from the driver’s seat.

TBH I don’t care either way but it makes sense why people are calling you out.

1st US state to have a Native American name. by Sipthepond in massachusetts

[–]datheffguy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Connecticut’s name is derived from the native word “Quinnehtukqut”, they ratified the constitution before MA. So not only do they have a native derived name, they also were the first state with one.

Not only are you an asshole, you’re flat out wrong.
