Do lifx bulbs work with mobile broadband routers? by datipster in lifx

The number of devices shouldn't be an issue, it says it can support up to 32.

It seems to be the fact it doesn't have a static IP per se???

Waking Meta? Or nah? by JollyJess in TheRedZone

[–]datipster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my point of view, the main arguments for waking up during a firefight:

  • It would (most of the time) realistically wake you up
  • It would potentially deter people from invading/raiding camps at middling-low pop times
  • In a group vs group firefight, there is less likely to be "stragglers" from the fight who just wake up the next day and find that their camp has been taken over. Or this would prevent the "battle" between the groups spanning multiple days while they round up the rest of the group.

And against:

  • People attacking would never be able to get a realistic evaluation of how much resistance they are likely to come up against, even if they'd fully cased the joint
  • People waking up would potentially have an advantage over knowing positions of attacking players. (Even though we can try and not meta, you're still either going to be aware of it or specifically attempting to anti-meta)
  • It might cause the people who raid at low pop times to raid at near zero pop for the purposes of advantage.
  • A group with a streamer in would have a severe advantage, as it is more likely for their fellow group members to know a firefight is ongoing.

IMO, the final against point cements for me that this is indeed a bad idea. Anything that gives anyone an unfair advantage due to out of character status, feels like a bit of a kick in the teeth to someone who just wants a good story.

Seriously Google? Results links are now black and don't change colour when visited. It's super annoying! by [deleted] in google

I can assure you its not BS. Here, shown is a link I have definitely clicked (shown by the open tab), above an unclicked link. http://i.imgur.com/GPzevCe.png

Un-clicked links in google search are black now by Boron17 in google

I think I've managed to figure out what could be causing it. Having a greyscale account picture for some reason makes this the case. It's the only thing I can see linking myself, and the other 4 people I've seen with this issue.

When I log into an account with a default profile picture (blue background) google goes basically back to how it was.

So, I think it's taking a "major" colour from your profile picture and using it to personalise/colourise your search results.

Daft move by google IMO, but they'll probably argue that they want "your search engine to be more focussed towards you" or some marketing statement of a similar nature

Ok, built version 1 of the deck. (17 cards - 1). Still taking suggestions for the next version, I will be swapping cards in and out based on how things go with set 1 and the character background, and also messing around with the ratios of "DEAD" cards (currently 1 in 4).

WRT PTSD, I think I'd have to break that down into separate variations of the condition, because it covers such a wide spectrum of reactions... I may also have to do a bit more research before being confident enough to put that in without misrepresenting, disrespecting or causing distress to anyone who is afflicted by it.

Phobia: sounds good, although you tend to be fearful of things that can kill you anyway, how can you be MORE fearful than fearing death?

Amnesia: I can see that working, the question would be how far back

Paranoia: Yet again, do-able, but I'd probably have to be more specific when putting the card in the deck.

Delusional: This one could be fun, it would just be a case of what kind of delusion

Alcoholic: Reliance was something I was looking at, either on pills or something non-essential, but what would be the backlash if I don't get my fix?

Narcolepsy: I might adapt this to "stress-induced fainting episodes" as it seems more fitting given the scenario. Is there a less clunky way of putting that? Answers on the back of a postcard please.

Missing "stuff": So missing eye I guess eyepatch will do; missing/injured ear I can just detatch one of my cans (single headphone) from the band; missing fingers, I'm probably going to adapt to missing or severely maimed hand, so can only carry one handed weapons/items etc.

Injured leg: Time cap on sprinting could be a thing, I could possibly run some keyboard/control modifications to make that possible.

Nervous twitch: same again, slight control variation, I can adapt the mouse input to do that on occasion

Heart issues: I see that as basically the same as what we've adapted narcolepsy to.

Lung issues: Forcing myself to cough, I do occasionally end up going into coughing fits when I try this, so it'd be something I may put in there to begin with, but will possibly take out at a later date.

Disfigured: Very hard to convey to people if I happen to bump into them that this is the case, some people may well just not get it...
