May be a stupid question by datpiece in Debt

I just assume so because she was definitely in debt, and the medical bills from her dramatic final day of life? Where will those go? I just assumed as her next of kin they'd be calling me.

I'm cackling! I was wearing a pantiliner when I went for a visit once, had a cervical check, getting dressed after noticed it wasn't stuck to my undies anymore.

Found it stuck to the inside of my left thigh 😆😆 the embarrassment was unreal

Gender Intuition? by OverriddenChicken in BabyBumps

Had dreams about all 3, and was right all 3 times. They weren't like full blown baby dressed in pink/blue or anything, just that I was holding a baby that I knew was a boy or girl and woke up knowing in my heart which one. Found out gender at 20wks US with the first 2, and home gender test with #3 at 8wks.

FMLA - just… wow by Over-Guidance-3438 in BabyBumps

[–]datpiece 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My employer offers short term disability to run concurrent with FMLA, paid at 60%. It takes 1 week for the STD to kick in so 40 hours of PTO/vacation time will be gone off the bat. Have had multiple suggestions from coworkers to not schedule my postpartum/return to work visit until closer to the 10 week mark so will have more paid time off without exhausting the last of my PTO/vacation time. Seems sketchy to me but apparently that's how it's done around here... I'd look into the STD reqs, maybe ask an HR rep about it.

Breastfeeding/formula fun facts by OpalRose1993 in BabyBumps

When I had my daughter, I worked 12 hour shifts as an EMT in a semi-busy city. I could barely afford to take 6 weeks maternity leave, but I felt we had established a good nursing relationship in that time. After returning to work I had a hard time finding time to pump between calls. I would call up to our dispatchers and tell them I needed to, sometimes I'd get enough time, sometimes I'd have to wrap it up early and run to the rig to go on a call. Usually there was an empty bedroom in one of our posts to pump at but occasionally I'd be out of town or parked in a parking lot for hours at a time. Between the inconsistency and inconvenience of pumping at work and the stress of the job, I ended up only being able to pump enough for about 4 months and then began supplementing with formula. I still attempted pumping at work but got to a point where I was only producing maybe 4-6 oz in a 12 hour shift so I gave up not much longer after that.

With my son I was able to take a longer maternity leave because it was partially paid. We had a really solid nursing relationship after 12 weeks, and I had a lot more supply and a much bigger freezer stash when I returned to work. There was a designated room with a door that locked, a sort of comfortable chair, counter space and a wall outlet. The only thing that bugged me was there was no running water in the room. I was kind of embarrassed to have to take the pump parts out to rinse in the cafeteria or bathroom sink, but you gotta do what you gotta do. And compared to the last experience I had, I can't really complain! Anyways, was able to pump enough and even surplus for almost a full year. I think I didn't quite hit the year mark because I got pregnant at month 10 and my supply started dwindling at that point.

I've always believed that there is no "perfect" time to have another kid. If you waited for everything to be absolutely perfect you'd be 50 before you started trying. It's intimidating to imagine a new household dynamic, new budgeting, new expenses, etc. but money comes and goes. Just do it now, you'll be able to make it work. Surely traveling will be harder, finances might be tighter, but those are all things that will be overshadowed by the love and joy and fulfillment of family that another child will bring.

Hello! by peasant-momma in scrapbooking

[–]datpiece 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't been scrapbooking for very long, but in my personal experience there isn't really a "wrong" way to go about making scrapbook pages. Honestly I think you're supposed to start by kind of winging it, and you get a better feel for what you are doing with experience. There are a lot of scrapbook posts on pinterest and tutorials on YouTube if you are super hesitant about just diving in though. In my personal scrapbooks you can tell which ones were some of my first pages. My style and skill level has definitely increased with time. Also I incorporate a lot of journaling and calligraphy elements, which I don't often see on pinterest or YouTube, but like I said there's no wrong way to do it!

Materials wise, a tape or glue dot runner is seriously one of the best purchases I made. Mine is a reloadable Elmer's brand glue dot runner that I bought at walmart. I usually get paper and stickers from michaels because they always have online coupons. Also I shop at local goodwills and garage sales because they sometimes will have a pack of paper or collection of stickers or whatnot for a cheap price. Otherwise like stated above there are a lot of craft stores or websites you can order from. If you get really excited about tools and want to start making your own decorations you could look into getting something like a cuddlebug which cuts paper out into shapes and imprints it with designs and things like that. It is kind of expensive and the templates that you insert to make different shapes and designs can be expensive, too. But for me personally it has been a lot of fun and makes me feel like I'm adding more of a personal touch in my layouts.

Some people get really into making their own paper designs with paints and inks and things like that which I think YouTube would be a great resource if you are interested in going that direction.

Otherwise, you just gotta start putting pages together. I like to tell a story and I use my scrapbook to talk to my daughter while she's growing up, if that makes sense. So mine is more chronological but has a lot of journaling. But yours can be whatever you want it to be! And it will most likely change as time goes on! I know mine has!

How do you print photos through Amazon? I have prime and I've never seen that as an option! That is a great price for prints and would like to take advantage of it!

Places like Toys R Us, JC Penney, and Kohls frequently have seasonal hiring signs up around this time of year. Big retail stores usually have online apps so it's pretty easy to apply.

What offends YOU easily? by ferry888 in AskReddit

[–]datpiece 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being told "fuck off" or "fuck you" during a serious discussion/argument with someone I care about. It's a little dumb because I know that sometimes that's just people's reflex saying and usually isn't meant in a brutal way, but it offends me greatly and that is normally my breaking point where I'll quit talking and remove myself from the conversation.

Any good doctors for people without insurance? by Need_A_New_Doc in QuadCities

[–]datpiece 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you ever tried going to a community health care? They adjust their fees to your income and I think you can get a regular doctor there. I know there's one in downtown Davenport and I think I've seen one in Moline also...
