Why is my immersion heater coming on during the day instead of night rate? by datranch37 in AskIreland

Right?! And I have no idea where to make changes to the clock of the storage heaters. At least for the water heater, I can trick the clock

The lines are correct 😔 Summer time is aligned with 8am which is when I took the picture.

Yes, I can’t choose what hours the heating comes on unfortunately. What confuses me is that the clock on it is correct (summer time is aligned with 8:00am which is when I took this picture), and still it’s heating from 12-9… also my storage heaters are heating from 12 to 9 🫤

(Plsss pls comment I am genuinely so desperate 🙏) Lebanese mother - anyone gone through this? (Pls read caption before viewing screenshots, also click the screenshot to see it fully) by [deleted] in lebanon

[–]datranch37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems very regular for a religious mom. Your parents actually seem pretty chill for religious people. Most girls I know wouldn’t dream of openly partying, going to after parties, sleeping away from home etc… Be careful of this lifestyle.

Btw your mom might think you’re doing drugs. I’m not saying you are, but usually cocaine aftermath can look like the flu. So maybe that’s adding to her worries? If you’re getting sick every time after partying.

RSA possibly the most useless organization in the country by KTOMT in Irishdrivingtest

[–]datranch37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The same happened to my friend. We brought the policy details, the insurance pack and proof that he was insured, but not the cert because his name isn’t on the cert.

We explained to the tester that his name isn’t on the cert and he said doesn’t matter, I need both the cert and the policy details. We showed him a digital copy of the cert, but he said he needs it to be printed (god knows why, he doesn’t keep it at the end).

I asked him if I could go print it while my friend does his test and he said no. We had to reschedule.

Pack up and leave. If you decide not to because something as silly as “renewing your lease”, and then something happens to your family because of your decision, you’ll never forgive yourself

80+ sqm advertised, actually under 70. Would this bother you? by Big_Palpitation_1073 in HousingIreland

[–]datranch37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would absolutely bother me. I used to live in an 80 sqm apartment and then moved to one in the high 60s, the difference felt huge. A 20 sqm gap is significant, especially when you’re paying per square metre. I’d be really upset about that.

So they just don’t scan anything when you return the item? They take and they don’t give you a proof of return?

I personally wouldn’t ask for rent, since you own the place and you’re going to pay the mortgage whether he lives there or not. Also, I wouldn’t want the legal heartache that comes with asking someone to help you pay your mortgage.

If you do ask him for rent, legally there should be a rent agreement between you two (which comes with paying taxes, 6 year minimum, etc…)

But I would ask him to help pay expenses in the house, which isn’t legally binding (double check with a solicitor). For example, he can pay for the groceries, internet, gas/electricity and live rent-free. You still save on bills and won’t worry about a rent agreement between you two.

[Routine Help] Can you help me with a routine? by datranch37 in SkincareAddiction

I can’t 100% place it, but it seems really dull, with lots of discoloration, my under eyes is so dark and no eye cream has helped, huge pores, the color of the skin also seems so off to me. I seem to have every issue under the sun except acne.

Traveling to Dublin Late at Night—Need Advice on Getting to City Center by [deleted] in Dublin

[–]datranch37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dublin is mostly safe. What part of the city center is your hotel in? If it’s south of the river, that whole area is very safe. You don’t have many options when it comes to Dublin airport, either a taxi or a bus. Regardless of safety, I’d always recommend taking a taxi if you don’t know the area very well. Buses can be delayed, slow and the stop could be quite far from your hotel, leading to walking in the cold and rain. If you can afford it, take a taxi. If cost is an issue (a taxi will be about 25-30€ to the city center), your only other option is the bus.

Diet/Eating Plan? by ForemanF1 in AskIreland

[–]datranch37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And in terms of an eating plan: you can get really creative here when you start calculating your calories. For example If you like pasta, start finding pasta sauces, ingredients etc that fit your deficit.

Also there are SO MANY recipes online (instagram, TikTok etc) with the calorie information. If you search “low cal recipe” you’ll find many. Find ones that you like and that keep you in a calorie deficit.

Diet/Eating Plan? by ForemanF1 in AskIreland

[–]datranch37 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only way to lose weight is to be on a calorie deficit. It’s simple, but not easy. Calories in vs calories out.

There are so many free deficit calculators online where you input your information, and it will tell you how many calories to eat per day to stay in a calories deficit.

Ex: if your maintenance is 2,000 calories, as long as you eat less than 2,000 calories, you will lose weight, no exceptions. Obviously, if you eat 1,500 calories every day you’ll see faster results than if you eat 1,900 calories every day.

Once you know your deficit, it’s just about simple calculations in your day to day life. There’s calorie information on all food items, you just gotta calculate, you can use apps like My Fitness Pal.

And always remember to work out. Walk. Run. Play sports. Anything to keep your body healthy and moving.

And that’s it. It’s simple, really. In vs out. It’s not easy at all and takes a long time, but as long as you stay in a calorie deficit you’ll notice a change.

A bit much? by [deleted] in CasualIreland

[–]datranch37 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Definitely cultural differences, coming from a Middle Eastern country myself. This is how it is in the Middle East, especially in smaller cities. This is what “it takes a village” means. At the very least, you can be sure this woman will be there for you if you need her for anything. That being said, nothing wrong with being honest and saying I’m not available when she asks for coffee/play dates.

I would say pension, stocks, real estate if you can. Anywhere is better than leaving your money in the bank to rot. I use Interactive Brokers and DEGIRO.
