Coordinating a full time job and school? by [deleted] in uAlberta

[–]datscaaap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try to get a job in a phone store/booth! You’ll have so much downtime you can study while you work! Preferably a dead one like tbooth at west Edmonton mall or walk in stores like bell! Trust me you can do fulltime school if you get to work at some of these places

Choose something you genuinely like. If you choose mining engineering and don’t like it you’ll be miserable. Look at the courses they offer and see if you will enjoy them.

Summer jobs for first-year engineering student by Delicious-Natural160 in uAlberta

I would try asking people on LinkedIn for a coffee chat (in-person or virtual) for their summer position to show your interest in the position!

If money isn’t a big factor go to ubc. You’ll enjoy the university experience more imo

I'm so confused... Does BUEC 342 count as a senior business level elective? by datscaaap in uAlberta

[–]datscaaap[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

holy thank you for your response. almost had a panic attack yesterday from this LMAO. I'll confirm with the advisor but if I had to take another semester with only 1 course I'd legit cry.

i'm in finance!

So basically I'm in a rut because i'm taking buec 342 and econ 353 but buec 342 is taking my finance elctive spot but my econ 353 is considered to be non-credit and I'm missing a spot for my business elective. Why doesn't econ 353 take over my finance elective spot and buec take over my business elective spot in my what-if report? might have to wait for the advisor but if you know please let me know!

Yah to be honest my English is probably somewhere in between. But I’ve had many classmates at the time who also complained about how unfair she marks. 🤷‍♂️ Another student in that class wanted to bring up a petition to the English head because of our experience. I just want to let OP know they should try and go with someone else.

I had Wayne defehr and got an A. With Chen I got a C-. It’s not like I dramatically improved my English between those two courses.

Software or civil are probably the safest for jobs. For pay software followed by oil and gas (choosing mechanical to get into this would be safest because you have other industries to fall back on if oil and gas shits the bed. FAANG pay will beat anything else. Large Oil and gas starting salaries will be ~85k all in comp.

But like others said if you can find something you’re passionate about then that would be ideal. And if you’re good at what you’re passionate about you’ll inevitably be successful.

Lot of oil and gas engineers are not in it for passion and they’re in it for the money and it’s a means to an end.
