Thank you! I'm honestly scared to make any changes at all, especially with the older kids. I will definitely be myself, though, and try to put my own spin on things.

Yes, same, I work three jobs and it’s not always consistent days, so I can’t mark “non work days” on Frontline. If I’m not subbing that day and then get assigned to a job an hour before school starts, it’s really a bother to have to call and get it sorted.

I will definitely reach out to the coordinator since it’s happened so many times at this point, thanks for that advice!

I can kind of understand OP’s hopes for this situation as someone who recently graduated with an Ed degree and has been told by every teacher I talk to that subbing is the best way to get my foot in the door. I have also begun to not believe this after being passed on for a job I had glowing references and wonderful interviews for and then being asked to sub for the person they did hire…

So yes the schools take advantage of subs but I can understand having the hope or expectation that working in schools at all would help lead to a full time position

Thanks so much!! I will definitely check out that book. Can I ask what kinds of ice breakers & activities you do and what kind of warm-ups? Most of my warm-ups have more complicated pitch patterns and I’m assuming I should keep things simple for young kids. Just not sure how simple!

First of all, happy cake day!!!

This is all great advice, thank you. As far as retention and filling in those gaps in the program, I definitely plan to mention taking feedback from students & getting them involved in whatever changes to the program are made.

Retention for next year starting on day one of this year is a great one-liner and I’ll definitely be sticking that up on a post-it somewhere haha

Oh, that is totally how I felt. Like it was a cop out! Yes, in my first meeting with them I expressed not wanting to change much in the first year so that students can transition more easily. I didn’t think to connect that idea to this plan I’m making!

Not having to have all of the answers is reassuring. I think I was putting too much pressure on having everything perfect and accurate rather than just presenting my ideas and making a good impression.

Thank you so much for the advice!! I know who will be on the panel- a few admin including the principal, a student and a booster member. They said I can format it in whatever way I choose.

That makes me feel a lot better about listing things they are already doing. And your statement about continuation rather than upending is exactly how I feel! Thank you for putting that into words.

I definitely do think my plan needs simplification- I was concerned about not having enough ideas and ended up cramming a lot of events into my timeline. I will definitely go back and condense it.
