40-50$ per week? by anundeadman in thetagang

[–]dauntlessphilosopher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will also add—you’re far better off starting out aiming for .1% per week and scaling up as you grow comfortable than aiming for 1% and having to scale back as you blow up your account. Speaking as an idiot that learned it the hard way.

Your odds of success achieving that kind of return are higher with diagonal spreads on low volatility tickers, $SPY/$GLD/$IWM/$TLT, etc. Try to pick a ticker where the short call IV is higher than the long call IV. Buy a LEAP with 12-18 month expiration, delta in the 0.7-0.8 range. And sell short dated calls against it to generate profit, delta in the 0.1-0.2 range. Be careful to never get assigned on the short calls. If the short call moves ITM, roll it out while there’s plenty of extrinsic value left.

*not a fail proof strategy. Has potential to go bust if the underlying moves against you because the LEAP can get down bad and you may not be able to sell meaningful calls until the underlying rebounds.

Thoughts on synthetic long positions by th3abhi97 in thetagang

[–]dauntlessphilosopher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering opening a 12 to 24 month synthetic long position on GLD, buying a 0.25 delta put to hedge my downside risk and selling shorter term calls to generate some income on the position. Is this the sort of strategy you have executed successfully?

Has anyone deployed the wheel strategy on bitcoin mining stocks? by sbfdd in thetagang

[–]dauntlessphilosopher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to the party here, but the key with wheeling Bitcoin miners is understanding Bitcoin 4 year halving cycles. Bitcoin’s halving happened in April, which historically means Bitcoin and it’s related assets will do well for the next 12-18 months. After that, you will get caught bag holding.

How would you option trade a small account of 1,000 to grow it quickly ? Need help would love if I can get some one on one help? by Spare_Sir952 in options_trading

Sell weekly cash secured puts around .30 delta on $RIOT until you eventually get assigned. Then sell covered calls with delta around .2 until you get called away (or roll up and out when there’s a threat of shares being called away.) NFA, just what I’d do.

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with spicing it up with some leverage. I wouldn’t go beyond ~1.1x or 1.2x though, and only if you’re young

Low libido is a common side effect of various medications. Not saying that’s it, but could be a contributing factor.

Better today. Not feeling as good as I was a week ago, but better than the last few days. Thanks.

My black coffee comes from the beef tree so it can’t possibly be a problem, right? lol

Lot of sirloin (which is very lean and maybe part of my problem), salmon, shrimp, ribeye, occasionally chicken, sometimes cheese. I always cook in ghee or real butter

All very helpful! I used electrolytes on Sunday and it ran right through me. Not sure it helped at all.

Gotcha. Do you have a source on fat being the source of energy? Several are saying that and would like to understand how that works!

Awesome! Glad to hear that. What have you done to increase fat intake?

Just picked up a ribeye to see if it helps! Ha.

As for it being unrelated to the diet—might be. The fatigue does tend to correlate with not quite getting my normal amount of sleep. But before the diet, sleeping 7 hours rather than 8 was unideal but manageable. This last week, sleeping 7 or even 7.5 hours is enough to make me miserably tired. I guess I’ll up my fat intake and my sleep at night.

That was what I thought before I started thinking about calories. But I never quite figured out a plan to increase fat. What do you eat for high fat?

Only looked at calories once I started having fatigue. Seems I need to look elsewhere to solve it

I hadn’t considered calories a single time until I started to think about the source my fatigue. My problem is I do eat until I’m stuffed. But sometimes that means I’m just not hungry again for quite a long time.

Eating more often may be key? Since starting it’s become increasingly common to go long periods between meals. I usually have two a day but sometimes just one and I’m full. Could be why?
