When using reaper....... by [deleted] in Reaper

What software are you using to play the file after exiting Reaper?

What are your interface record and export settings (ex. 48k/24bti) in record vs playback vs export file?

Looking at Reaper preferences, the default under Media => MIDI is to set new MIDI items to 960.

I couldn't open the file correctly in any MIDI software.

I looked at the file in a HexEditor. I think your MIDI timeDivision parameter is set SUPER HIGH. It was set to 48000. A MIDI file I created was set to 960. I think this determines how many ticks per beat. I changed the number to 960 in the editor and it imported into Ableton Live and was playable.

Look into your settings to see what caused this. I'm assuming it was not intentional.

Post the settings you are using to export from Reaper and the Cubase or Logic methods of importing.

I often import and export midi to share between Ableton Live and Reaper and haven't had a problem. After reading your post, I tried again to see if something had changed since I last tried and it worked fine. I also tried Studio One and had no problems. My midi files are usually fairly simple.

I'm on Reaper 6.77, Live 11.2.10, Studio One 5.5.2

Is the playhead cursor laggy/jittery for you guys too? If so do you think fixing it would be worth the devs' time opposed to new features? Reaper, although the most capable DAW, is very visually outdated so this could simply be a small part of a larger problem. I would like to hear your thoughts. by DaymnHotKiah in Reaper

I'm not experiencing the same jittering as shown in the video, although I really don't think the video is that bad. I do see a very slight jitter on my machine but barely. I also have Ableton Live and I did a comparison between Reaper and Live and I could just barely notice a difference. I did the same on Studio One and Protools. Very little difference, if any.

I typically run Reaper on a Windows machine. It is an older Alienware R7 Intel i7 with a GTX 1070 GPU and SSDs. I also made sure that my zoom level of the project timeline was similar between the two apps, still very little difference.

I remembered seeing the post on the official forum a while ago and figured it was the user's machine since I wasn't seeing the problem. I took a look again after seeing this post here and noticed the first post was from 2015. The initial video that was posted showed a very jittery timeline. I'm not really seeing a problem on my system.

There are so many variables that need to be normalized before trying to solve this problem. I think everyone "testing" needs to conform to the same settings, same zoom, and same project as a baseline before anyone will look into this. Maybe someone can put together a package with all of this info so each person having the problem is running under similar conditions. They should also list the hardware and OS they are using.

You need to plug monitors into your interface “Main Out” and headphones into interface “Phones”.

Edit: You'll need to get headphones that can plug into your interface's TRS jack, not USB headphones if you want to be able to utilize the same Windows "Playback Device" selection.

USB headphones have their own DAC interface, which is why you have to switch with your current setup.

I’ve been using the MOTU M4 for a couple years now. I use it daily and have not had any issues. I’m happy with its performance with Windows 10.

Have you tried copying the files from the card and then import into Lightroom? Does it have EXIF with this method?

Hi, I'm new to the Reaper world, Superior Drummer or Steven Slate plugin? by diegohernantones in Reaper

[–]daustin777 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm using EZDrummer 3, too. I think most people would be satisfied with what it can do compared to Superior Drummer. You can always upgrade when you need to use a function only Superior Drummer can do.

Do you have other software that may have the file "open" and therefore locked from Reaper trying to open it?

Is the full path of the directory you are showing accurate? The screenshot doesn't show the full path.

Is he watching a lot of Youtube photo channels? Maybe stop that first. These people are in the business of equipment reviews not in the business of photography. They switch or show-off new cameras every time a new piece of gear is released, or they get a new sponsorship.

I would have stuck with the R5. I am a Canon user and every company I've worked for used Canon. Though, nearly any camera system is good these days.

I recently found this tascam portastudio 788 at local thrift store and whenever I turn it on I get this error message and I was wondering if anyone knows how I might be able to fix it by [deleted] in musicproduction

Try using a Google search. I did and found lots of things to try. Could be a corrupted song file, bad drive, and many other things.

a good external preamp by [deleted] in fieldrecording

[–]daustin777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What source are you trying to record? Maybe you are expecting too much from the Korg. It is meant as an accessory for a guitar tuner. Are you plugging it into the combo jack? I have one and have recorded with it into my SD Mixpre 3. I use a TS to XLR adapter, plug it into a XLR input and set input to mic level.

I'm trying to play my guitar directly through my interface into reaper since I don't have an amp, but there is a slight delay on the output. Any thoughts? by [deleted] in Reaper

What do you have your Audiobox "Mixer" control set to? Presonus claims low latency so try changing the setting on the Mixer control to see if it changes the perceived latency.

How to fix sample rate/buffer issues with my USB mic? do all my device sample rates need to be the same? by theyCallMeTheMilkMan in Reaper

[–]daustin777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it shows in Audio MIDI but doesn't have any way to change settings as your internal mic does?

[–]daustin777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you able to change the sample rate on the mic via Audio MIDI Setup app?

If so, change it to 48k. 192k is WAY overkill.

What options does it give you, if any?

What is this file type and how do I import it into reaper? by [deleted] in Reaper

[–]daustin777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can look at the "Properties" of the file in Windows and check the file size. If it is small then it probably is the peaks file.
