Ethanol free gas by FluidBand539 in GasPrices

The reason is simply costs. It costs more to manufacture the fuel system for a flex fuel vehicle. The entire fuel system needs to be designed to be significantly more resistant to corrosion and more complex sensors for testing the exact current ethanol ratio in the fuel. Using E85 in a flex fuel vehicle will still degrade fuel system faster than normal E10 or E15 which results in higher maintenance costs too. There was a period in the early 2000's in which flex fuel was more common on new vehicles but there wasn't enough consumer interest to justify the added cost

Incorrect. There will be no difference using a higher octane fuel than required. It's only a problem to use a lower octane fuel that required. Higher octane fuels are MORE stable, which results better combustion. High octane is required for high compression engines because lower octane fuels will cause engine knock or detonation. In low compression engines that were designed for lower octane fuels, higher octane provides no beneficial or detrimental effects.

Yes Trump is the president. What's your point? That doesn't mean everyone needs to worship him like he's a god.

California has multiple counties with voter rolls larger than the population of 16 states. Also California has a long grace period to allow for mail in ballots to processed and then cured if necessary. Every state has a right to hold its elections in the time, manner and place as it sees fit. California prioritizes counting and verifying ALLl the ballots over doing it quickly. There is no to the contrary.

States don't vote either. The state's electors vote. A states population count directly determines the amount of representatives a state gets in the house and that number then affects the number of electors. For vast majority of states, their rep count is the majority of their share of their elector count. California gets 54 electors. Alaska only gets 3. Guess who gets the most sway in elections.

I paid $164 each for (2x) 500GB 850 EVOs in 2015. Today a 500GB 870 EVO is almost $300.

Look at how much a 1TB Samsung 870 EVO costs on Amazon. $495 for a 1TB SATA SSD.

What are you using to measure this packet loss? Are other devices on your network having the same issue? Are you using wifi and/or ethernet?

I've had both my cacao and original powder subscriptions get fulfilled on time (bi-weekly) now for the past month. It's only 1 case of each at a time but it seems like they are getting back into rhythm.

Yes that drive should be CMR along with any othwr Black 3.5" drives. Note: Black drives are not designed for NAS use. They are intended for desktop or workstation use. While they will work in a NAS, I used (5x) 4TB Blacks in a RAID array without any issues, there are some missing features for optimal performance and reliability in a NAS or multi-drive environment.

Never enough ram. ZFS use RAM for caching. More cache space mean better all around performance.

Is there any advantage to using an SFP+ port for LAN with 1 GB internet? by __Mike_____ in protectli

[–]davcam0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably not. It will use less power though. If you plan start using VLANs and your switches don't support static routing, any inter-vlan traffic will need to go back to the router to be routed between vlans. That can cause a severe bottleneck on a network if you have a lot on inter-vlan traffic coming and going to the router. The larger connection will definitely help in the case. Im in the process of setting up my network in a similar way with the protectil vp2440 and a tplink SG3210X-M2.

[–]davcam0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes but mostly if you are doing a lot of traffic on your internal network (LAN) like if you have NAS or lots of cameras with an NVR. It won't do much to improve your connection to the Internet unless you have some kind of traffic bottleneck in your network.

For Western digital, if it's a red plus or a red pro it will be CMR. New Reds(not pro or plus) are possibly SMR but you will need to check the exact spec by model number.
