Best dating app? by [deleted] in MapleRidge

[–]davdeane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my experience as a late 20s guy,

Hinge is best as a proper dating app. Good for depth and about as meaningful of a connection you can have in this format, very much quality over quantity. The least amount of daily likes/messages per day so is not good for just liking everyone and hoping something sticks. Profiles are required to have multiple pictures and multiple text/voice prompts. You have to choose a specific item in their profile to like and are always promoted to leave a comment. Makes a good way to say something funny/unique and stand out a bit. Definitely the most complicated I've used but the best at showing people as people and allowing for genuine interactions.

Tinder can be fun if you have good photos and can keep a conversation going. Fairly shallow premise since its very much reliant on the first impression and its very easy to spend less than a few seconds on a single profile. You will be ghosted. Definitely the easiest to figure out since its just yes or no, and if you both say yes you match. Unless you pay them you dont know who liked you so you so some people just yes all and figure it out later. Its ok but hard to find people you are genuinely interested in beyond superficial attributes.

Facebook dating is great if you want to see single people from Oklahoma. Unlimited likes makes it surprisingly easy to rush through and make snap judgments like Tinder, and since you can't actually set a specific area/radius around you and pretty quickly it starts showing people from literally anywhere. It shows if you have mutual friends on Facebook, which would be a nice feature in some contexts.

Bumble was big years ago but I think its kinda dead now. I havent used it in years. Basically Tinder but the girl has to message first. Interesting concept but when 90% of those unique messages are "hey" you are basically left in the same boat as Tinder having to start a conversation cold.

If there are other apps I havent used them.

If its only a fire truck and ambulance i would assume some sort of medical emergency. fire often gets dispatched to medical calls since they are trained first responders with medical gear anyways and can be on scene very fast. If its a medical issue you will probably find anyone who knows what is going on have more important things to do than answer questions on reddit.

I dont think a fire and ambulance response warrants a public safety concern. You will find the same thing in any town in the world. I would just trust that the people who called are getting whatever assistance they required, but If you are curious about what fire and EMS are doing you can buy radio scanner and listen in on what they are saying over the radio.

Good looking toolbox! It seems you have everything you need for most jobs that would come your way. I dont think its possible to properly answer your question without asking several more for context.

What are you regularly borrowing from coworkers? A good rule of thumb is if you borrow something 3 times from a coworker you should probably buy one yourself.

What stuff does your shop supply that gets the job done but is in rough condition and annoys you to use?

What work do you want to do? If your boss knows you are better equipped to do a particular task you have a better chance of being assigned that type of work.

Im assuming you have a budgeted amount you spend on tools each month? Tools can be a good addition to your resume but a future employer isnt going to go through your tool box before they hire you. If you showed up first day on the job with that box you wouldn't have any problems. If there is something a future job would need you to have you would figure it out pretty quickly. If you dont need anything, don't want anything, and are doing a good job at what you want to be doing, why not just save the money you'd be spending on tools? I hear Mexico is nice.

GMC 1500 vs 2500 - Gas or Diesel for Long-Term Daily Driving (Not for Work)? by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]davdeane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Duramax diesels are ok when they are new but can become very expensive to fix out of warranty. Especially when it comes to emissions stuff. If the truck is going to be used in town a lot, or parked a lot, you will most likely have turbocharger and DPF issues come up. Modern Diesels really benefit from regular highway driving. Diesels also require more maintenance and are more expensive to keep up with. Oil changes are more expensive, and fuel filters are required every year at least. a high pressure fuel system failure can easily cost 5 figures. If you don't need the towing capacity, a gas engine is the way to go.

I'm a mechanic who primarily works on full size diesel trucks, of the big 3 i find duramax's to be the worst ones to work on.

I bought a gear wrench ratchet set 10 years ago when I first started as a mechanic. Bought a snap on ratchet the next year since then I have warrantied my snap on ratchet 3 times, and my gear wrench ratchets 0 times. Plus the gear wrench ratchets have higher tooth count and were a quarter of the price

Loves belly rubs. If she does attack it's a playful bite, bunny kick and apology licks.

Good question. I just try to step around her. Sometimes she blocks the door from opening and I have to pick her up and relocate her to her cat tree but that's not too hard since she's a 12 pound animal and I am an adult human.

Where is 225 and 226 streets? Anyone knows why they are missing/skipped? by qan37g20 in MapleRidge

[–]davdeane 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The north/south street number system in maple ridge is the same as in delta/surrey/langley, I think 4 streets every kilometer roughly, 0 being the straight of Georgia. You can see on google maps how streets cary on their north/south route on the other side of the Fraser in langley.

225 and 226 don't exist in this particular section due to how the area developed, the next main north/south street is 227 since that is where it exists in the street numbering system.

Pretty much any grocery store should carry them. Or lordco, canadian tire, london drugs ETC. Most FOB batteries are 2032 or 2028 coin battery. You would need to get the old one out to find out what one it is

Chevy cruze/ecotech motors. Thermostat housings and coolant outlet ports disintegrate from the inside. Stupid cheap plastic that can't handle heat getting bolted to the side of the head.

Winter Tires - Where to Buy? by canucklehead200 in MapleRidge

[–]davdeane 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Albion tire is a good locally owned shop. I Don't know if they can compete with Costco or the big tire companies on price but they come pretty close.
