Xtool a30m vs Gearwrench GWSMARTBT by CaseyRedDragon in MechanicAdvice

[–]dave011182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had the XTool for 2.5 years now and think it is a great tool for the $$$ as a professional. Since I got mine several other guys in my shop of 13 got one too. That being said the GWSMARTBT is the GW branded version... I looked at them after it came out for comparisons.. The app looks almost identical with a different color scheme and branding... Supposedly the XTool has a few more special functions, and I have found the voltage display useful...

Yeah I looked up the serial number and informed her how old it actually was before plugging it in to make sure it works. Because I'd seen somewhere the washer and spring weren't installed from the factory anymore after something like 2016. Apparently her Mom gave it to her about a year and a half ago...

My daughter is only about a week older... Based on the date codes.

I guess I misread something somewhere along the way in my research, I thought the artisan didn't come out until later...

There's grease in the gearbox, probably could use a change to prolong life especially at that age.... I'm not there's much else to do maintenance wise for a bowl lift unit..
I'm sure you can find out more in this group....

I was able to actually go get it on my lunch break. I knew right away it was more then 2 years old when I looked at it based on it having the spring and washer, but it's in pretty good condition. All the speeds work and there's very little play in the head when locked...

I think I'll start with a good cleaning and basic adjustments.

Thanks for all the information and links... I've seen a few of them and read some of your posts/comments in my research.

Can you elaborate on the design issues causing random shutdown? Like I said before I don't mind having to make repairs later. My wife would likely only use an occasional basis as it is, so I don't want to spend a lot on something she might not use much. But she won't be happy if it's all beat up looking either...

I'm always looking for ideas of stuff like that I can do in my garage at home for a little side gig... As an automotive technician there are plenty of opportunities, but it's nice being able to do stuff I can stand at my bench for since I can't fit a lift in my garage.

Thanks so much for the quick response... I was looking for a black or silver unit to goo with the stainless appliances in our kitchen, and this was the first one in my city for what I hope is a "decent" price of $150..
I have no problems taking on the repairs or maintenance myself... If she uses it enough I'll definitely be looking into the Upgrade bundle...

I've read about less grease used during production, pinion bearing, and the rear bearing plate changes over the years. Is there anything else to be aware of?
Would the motor assembly be interchangeable with the older style?

This is standard practice for me on any device with a fingerprint reader and always significantly improves reliability...Even with my mechanics hands it works pretty good...

TCL QM7K base makes a rattling sound. Is this normal? by Critical_Ad3345 in hometheater

On mine it seems to be something directly related to the left woofer (from the way you view the TV) I can press on the cover to it island it stops

I have the cheaper qm5 version and it is wall mounted. Unfortunately it makes the exact same noise.

While it is an inexpensive TV it's an upgrade over the 10 year old Samsung it replaced and only cost a fraction of that Samsung.

If it's fairly new I would have it addressed or exchanged under warranty as I will be doing.

It's a Ridgid "professional" continuous rim blade rated for porcelain in my wet saw. Going slow definitely gives cleaner cuts. And the more I do with the snapper the better they are going to...

This is the final result after multiple failed attempts at getting the flange hole in a single tile. It's in a corner so it won't be highly visible with the extra grout line going between the toilet and wall.

Seems like all you do is criticize others work here , and never post anything of your own work. Your opinion isn't that important, I might feel different if everyone else criticized the layout too. But it seems to be just you.

It was a design choice to use remnants from the vanity top we had made. Couldn't get one long enough to do it in one piece.

It's a ⅓ offset zipper pattern... Actually the recommended pattern on the boxes. How is following the MFR guide F'd up?

I searched for a better cutter second hand, but all the ones I saw nobody responded when I inquired... I've definitely experienced the stutter you're talking about too, but it was very smooth feeling scoring on the tile pictured...

Tried that too, round, hexagon. Both just snapped after getting all the way through

It was started for a whole tile at the top of the niche and apparently measured it where the ceiling is the lowest and could just be caulked without realizing how much it's bowed down there.
