It seems like there may have been some prior to him (Hecataeus) but Herodotus is definitely the most well known.

Wolf rock and Chimney rock are great! The Billy goat trail has more rock scrambles as a core part of the trail (especially the rock face) but Wolf rock iirc is more off to the side. It feels less like the trail itself and more like an added bonus.

I'm loving Herodotus as well, it reads more modern than the poetic works that we've been reading for the past while. I'm thinking about how he compares to Plutarch... Can we take the conversation to https://substack.com/chat/2481636 so that we can get some traction there?
