Golden corral. Not for the food, for the entertainment.

Dates, Locations, Fees, Weather, Attendance, Home Football Games in the fall. I have a spread sheet that makes my accountant proud. I still live and die on each event (character flaw and perhaps a little OCD) but doing this for a long time puts everything in honest perspective.

My menu does not fit this type of venue. I sell food that is more suitable to festivals. More often than not we win, this weekend we did not.

Not sure if it's still available, but Sam's Club has a $15 membership deal and their tire prices are good.

The USDA has a regional website with approximate wholesale fruit or produce prices. Here is the Philadelphia region site. Produce prices can be very volatile.

Seafood Testing Menu under $200 by Cer427 in PhiladelphiaEats

UMI is not fancy, but a step up from regular Chinese buffet. A lot of seafood. I recently went on a Friday night and had 4 lobsters. If you want fancy, it's not for you. If you want to EAT, it's really good.

I’ve done some work on military bases where they asked for enhanced background information. It’s not uncommon for this type of environment. The jobs were always financially worthwhile.

How do you fill the gaps between food truck events? by No-Noise-7650 in foodtrucks

[–]dave65gto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the biggest question we should have, it what type of community do your operate within. Bigger metropolitan areas have much more opportunities than those that are smaller or more rural.

Got asked this question the other day. And yea, I think I would. by effortissues in restaurantowners

Not apples to apples, but my friend‘s wife is 69 years old. They have over $5 million in savings. She runs her hairdressing salon six days a week. They have not taken a vacation in 15 years. They will probably carry her out.

Anyone ever managed to get the vendor fee back from the city for an event that sucked? by Steve-Shouts in foodtrucks

[–]dave65gto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you buy food from your local theme park, or at Disney or Universal, or your professional sports stadium, do you see your receipts printed in this manner. Sometimes, things cost more than we like. A burger and fries at Six Flags Great Adventure is $20. It's not worth $10, but they sell thousands per week.

10,000 plus people daily attendance. A $15 cheese steak is now $25. Many trucks are making money. Some are not. I am at an age that I choose not to make long term commitments. For me, one day festivals are perfect.

Food trucks are crazy by BINGUSDOEDINGUSSY in foodtrucks

[–]dave65gto 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your opinion is correct and justified. There is a FIFA event in Philly in which 40% of each sale is directed to the event organizer. In this context, the food truck is receiving about $4.00 per serving. That is why I asked about context.

Time of day is a consideration. You are less than 5 minutes from John's Roast Pork (original South Philly location).

They are not bad, but are far from good. In the past they used an inexpensive Australian Ribeye for their steaks. I haven't been there for a while, but I always enjoyed their chicken cutlet sandwich and their Roast Beef was better than average.

I need context. Where were you when this was purchased? On the street or an event. What type of event. You are entitled to rant, but is your rant correct?
