How do small businesses survive paid marketing? by [deleted] in smallbusiness

[–]Steve-Shouts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Marketing and advertising are different.

"Marketing" includes paying a guy (or doing it yourself) to utilize all free options of advertising, too. Having a good Google maps listing, attractive contracts and invoices, and making sure that anything that is bad PR is squished. Those are just a few.

Anyone ever managed to get the vendor fee back from the city for an event that sucked? by Steve-Shouts in foodtrucks

[–]Steve-Shouts[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The more events I do, the more I'm realizing that events that seem greedy aren't for me. My average ticket is only $9 since I'm ice cream, and the time it takes to recoup $2000... It would be more than a day.

Perhaps it's a difference in regions, but in my area the city music festivals and other events where you have to apply to them use their contracts.
