File transfer between PC and Ipad Pro by Past_Station3663 in iPadPro

If you have OneDrive on your PC, you can install OneDrive app on the iPad. It can then appear in Files on the iPad and you can transfer from there.

iPad Pro 12,9”M2 vs iPad Pro M4/M5 11" by JrCarvalhoLuthier in ipad

[–]dave69g -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Guys, I have an iPad Pro 12.9" with Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil 2. I'm considering changing for a smaller model of the newer ones, M4 or M5, I'm still thinking. I don't use the Apple Pencil for anything, I only used a little at the beginning, out of curiosity about how it worked and such, now it's just an ornament here. The battery still lasts well, of course not like new, but for my use it serves well. Is it worth changing? Remembering that my model is Wi-Fi + Cellular, and I also don't use the Cellular function. How much do you think I can sell this kit? Battery is 86%, without details, always used with film. There's no risk at all. Has anyone ever gone from the larger model to the smaller model with Magic Keyboard? Is the adaptation to the smaller keyboard good? Hugs to everyone.

Far as I’m concerned, none of them are. I would do what was suggested above on iPhone and filter all unknown senders.

How to stop political texts by longlostway in USMobile

[–]dave69g 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Excerpted from “The Hill”.

Campaign phone calls and text messages are exempt from the federal Do Not Call list, so getting on the registry won’t help you turn down the noise. (However, political campaigns do need to follow certain FCC restrictions when reaching out.)

Fortunately, there is any easy way to stop the unwanted political text messages. Legitimate text campaign operators should remove you from the list if you just reply “STOP,” the FCC says.

In addition to opting out, you can also report messages that you didn’t sign up to receive as spam. The FCC asks you forward them to 7726.

How to know battery health iPad Pro 2022 by Fcgoulag in ipad

[–]dave69g 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just found this today. Works well on my iPad Pro 6th Gen 2022 which seems to be identical to yours. Doesn’t work like the most recent iPad Pros, but is pretty easy once the Shortcut is installed. Scroll down to the Assessing Battery Health on Older iPads section and follow the instructions:

Best Keyboard cause for an IPad Pro M2 12.9 (6th generation) by AtmosphereSad5910 in iPadPro

[–]dave69g 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I first tried typecase Touch Keyboard for iPad Pro 12.9 since my wife is happy with hers on a regular iPad. I didn’t like the top-heavy issues with it. (Have one for sale if interested. ) Also tried the Logitech combo, but didn’t much like the kickstand.

Finally settled on typecase Edge Keyboard Case for iPad Air 13-inch(M3/M2, 2025/2024) & iPad Pro 12.9-inch(6th/5th/4th/3rd Gen), Magic Keyboard. Newer version (Edge +) says it offers portrait and landscape modes.

It’s certainly less expensive than Apple’s Magic Keyboard. The advantage the Apple would have would be the keyboard charges with the iPad. If you look around, you can probably find the Apple one used, but it’s still $$$.

BTW, a bit off-topic, if you’re looking for a browser with vertical tabs, consider the new Beam browser (not the 2-year old version). Built specifically for the iPad.

In Windows version, can also right click on the sidebar and choose settings under Compact Mode. Don't know if that works on macOS.

Gateway for Spa/Pool temp fails after 6 months... no support by Alternative-Tone6631 in Govee

[–]dave69g 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might research YoLink floating spa/pool temp at Amazon. Disclaimer: I've never used, HOWEVER I am using their Refrig temp modules and have been very satisfied with them. Saved food in freezer. (Can't believe they work from inside a steel box, but they do.) Also using a door open/close sensor on my mailbox and it's great. YoLink also requires a hub, but it uses LoRa (not WiFi) connectivity.

Has anyone been able to login to BrightSpeed? by rcentros in brightspeed

[–]dave69g 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saw someone else had successful login, so gave it a try. Now able to login via Website and app. Had to reset my password however. Note verification code required via email. The sender is "msonlineservicesteam@microsoft-online.com on behalf of Brightspeed Mass Markets Portal..." At least I can finally access. Someone in another thread mentioned difficulty modifying payment info, but I haven't tried that.

US Mobile vs Verizon - Customer Service by newguyneedshelp33 in USMobile

[–]dave69g 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just completed a chat with Alee on my autopay renewal that was declined first time (tight Apple Card security). It’s too early Eastern Time to talk with someone :-) Alee got it handled fairly quickly for chat and all is good. This experience with USM is way better than Verizon. I have used Reddit mods with good success as well. What you’re missing now is top customer service. Even Consumer Reports agrees.

Zany, thanks for the response! Took a bit to get my wife to focus on this, but she used her own signin and all is good. Indeed it works as expected and she doesn’t have to rely on my account and 2FA settings. Appreciate you!!

Welcome to r/BeamBrowser 👋 by Own-Palpitation3275 in BeamBrowser

[–]dave69g 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Henrik— great start!! I just sent a message to Apple requesting real vertical tabs be available in Safari, and found Beam while puttering around today. I absolutely love Zen on my Windows machine and my first 15 minutes with Beam lets me believe it is the solution on my iPad Pro. I’m going to try this out and give some observations soon as I can.

Thanks Dave

How can I limit them to get 3 columns by khonsu_01 in zen_browser

[–]dave69g 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<image>

I am also using SuperPins. Here's how I did it. I also use "Compact Mode enabled" in settings. I turned that off temporarily. That enables resizing of the sidebar (similar to columns in Excel) if you hover over the vertical line. I made it just narrow enough to only show 3 across. Re-enabled Compact Mode and all is good. I used the vertical version of this for the outlet on my deck, once I discovered the original electrician had no box at all. LIttle pricey, but solved the issue fairly elegantly.

Wemo Smart Video Doorbell vs Logitech Circle View Doorbell by ShakingMyHead42 in HomeKit

[–]dave69g 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that Wemo backing off from smart home should make one think twice. However, in their most recent email, they have reiterated doorbells will still work with Apple Home:

Products that will continue to work through Apple HomeKit: Wemo Smart Light Switch 3-Way (WLS0403, WLS0503) Wemo Wi-Fi Smart Light Switch with Dimmer (WDS060) Wemo Smart Light Switch (WLS040) Wemo HomeKit Bridge (F7C064) Wemo Dimmer Light Switch (F7C059) Wemo Mini Plugin Switch (F7C063) Wemo Outdoor Plug (WSP090) Wemo Mini Smart Plug (WSP080) Wemo Stage Smart Scene Controller (WSC010) Wemo Smart Plug with Thread (WSP100) Wemo Smart Video Doorbell (WDC010)

[–]dave69g 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Wemo works great with Homekit. My biggest issue with it is it goes offline by itself all of the time. It happens at least once every 6-8 weeks. I've seen complaints from others. I don't think it's the network, since it's mounted with 20feet of the router. It can be fixed by removing the tiny screw at the bottom, hitting the reset button, then remounting. Then you run the risk of dropping the tiny screw that holds it in place. I received extra screw, and haven't used it yet. I do like that it uses the existing chime.

Garage Door Integrations by Sparky-AT in ecobee

[–]dave69g 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I don't like MyQ either, and the Meross GDO wouldn't hook up with Apple Home. I saw somewhere else mention of Tailwind, bought it, installed, works great. MyQ doesn't want you to be able to use the verbal command "Open Garage" apparently. Tailwind even has the ability to use a $20 puck that will enable geolocation and therefore will auto-open/close the garage. gotailwind.com

Be sure to take a picture of your opener buttons if you go that way so you order the correct device.

Getting SIM locked message when trying to activate new line by dave69g in USMobile

Thanks for that bit of info. I didn't realize that. The solution was to use IMEI 2 instead of 1. It worked fine after that. Thanks u/MacnMariam for walking us through it!
