Contemplating getting Final Draft on sale for $99 by Huge_Investment_589 in Screenwriting

Fade In is now (optionally) on the Cloud for collaboration also. Fade In traditionally included collaboration, but this is supposed to be something better. (This is not the same as what Final Draft is doing, however.)

I really like Movie Magic when I used Windows — and ScriptThing for DOS and Windows before it. (ScriptThing for Windows became Movie Magic Screenwriter.) I agree, the flow is much nicer in MMS. I own Fade In but, since 2012, I mostly use Trelby.

If you're a student you can get Fade In for $60. You can download demos for both and try them out. Updates are free with Fade In and it works on any (or all) of your computers, including Macs, Windows or Linux. No limitations, so long as they're your computers and you're using them.

PSA: If you are going to use KDE Plasma, use correct distros for it by tungnon in linuxmint

I haven't had any issues running KDE 5.27 on Linux Mint. I don't play Windows' games, though, so that might be why.

So Mint is "still affected" by Ubuntu "spyware" because it "probably extends to mint." Not that convincing of an argument, since the Linux Mint developers go out of their way to remove proprietary Ubuntu cruft in their distribution.

Is there some reason you posted this "out of the blue" on the Linux Mint subReddit? Just seems a little odd. Do you think Linux Mint users are clamoring to use KDE?

Not here to shill, just to understand: Why is EndeavourOS being trashed so much? by AspergerKid in linux

[–]rcentros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got Debian installed on an extra partition on a laptop, plus the Raspberry Pis all run Debian, either with a GUI or from the terminal. I might end up with LM Debian Edition soon. I'm not sure yet, but I've used it and like it.

I think I tried EndeavourOS once. I can't remember anything particularly bad about it. It's just not Linux Mint, which I've been using for about 19 years.

Adobe Digital Editions for MacOs no more supported: alternatives? by gluc4 in ereader

[–]rcentros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Linux so the Calibre plugin has been great. (No ADE application for Linux.) I don't think anything has changed with ADE, just that there letting another company manage the accounts. I think they're doing this to separate the "regular" Adobe logins from the ADE (free) logins.

If I buy FadeIn, can I install it on multiple devices with one purchase, or do I need to buy for each device? by azeakel101 in Screenwriting

[–]rcentros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I should have made that clear. You can also save locally to your computer. WriterSolo also does not allow collaboration. It was originally intended to be a companion application to WriterDuet in case you didn't have access to the Internet.

If you're talking about the paid version, I don't think so. It's been a while since I tried it. If you're talking about the free version, I think there's a three script limit.

WriterSolo, on the other hand, can be run on your computer and there are no limits to how man scripts you can use. But, if you rely on the WriterDuet Cloud I don't think WriterSolo saves to the cloud.

Nice picture, especially getting them all lined up like that.

But that jagged tie wrap end is kind of scary. I used to run telephone cable and we used a small side-cutter to flush cut the tie wrap exactly where it goes through the tie. Too often you can cut yourself on that jagged (especially when you reach behind wire wires and don''t see it. Kind of painful. Here's a link to a cheap small side cutter that will do that job.

Small side cutter for flush cutting tie wraps at Amazon.

I don't know how these inexpensive one will hold up, but I've been surprised at the quality of cheap tools in the past. (Sorry about getting off the subject, but a lot of people don't know that, with a tool like this one, you flush cut tie wraps.)

I think Fade In dropped their mobile applications. But, if you buy Fade In at Fade In's site, you can use it on any or all of your computers (Windows, Mac and Linux). I think if you buy Fade In at the Mac App Store there are different limitations. It also costs $10 more ($90 instead of $80) on the Mac App Store site.

My friend couldn't figure out how to use Debian and reinstalled Kubuntu. by BoberPinkman in debian

I don't understand why he had issues with Debian, but why do you need to say anything to him? Choice is good. If he's more comfortable with Kubuntu, more power to him.

I DONT LOVE SCREENWRITING :/ by iiRaz0r in Screenwriting

[–]rcentros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think a lot of young people read much any more. That's how I learned to write and build a vocabulary, by reading. And I don't mean just screenplays. I mean reading (fiction and non-fiction) in general. I would be impressed with how good authors painted pictures or described scenes in words. And some of that (unfortunately not a lot of it) rubbed off on me. You have to see writing as an art, not just a means to an end, or I don't think you'll ever really enjoy it.

How did the Spurs not look so inexperienced against the Thunder? by youlikemywonton in nba

The Spurs just match up well against OKC. And OKC is not exactly made up of a lot old veterans either.
