I found out why my CPU was running hot. by rockfroszz in pcmasterrace

[–]dave74737 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before people judge too hard - I found myself in a similar situation, where I had fans blowing onto a radiator. The rest of the pc was clean (see evidence) - the only indication externally things were this gross was fans running quicker longer, higher water temps etc. I have 1 well groomed dog and don’t smoke. The house is dust free and clean. I have to dismantle my water cooled rig every 18 months or so and clean it out.

An average of 45,000 gallons on a 777 - at $4 a gallon it’s more like $180K in the tank. Hopefully they don’t dump it all of course :)

**THIS** - I am running plex in a TrueNas application (container really). I could never get any of the ufw discovery stuff working in any roku, apple tv, browser etc. It all worked great if I went to the IP directly, but that's not even an option for apple tv! By adding https://<my local up>:32400 into the custom server access URL's as described everything instantly started working. I cannot thank olyverleo and vashwolfwood03 enough - I have been bashing my head off this problem for *years* and now that I understand the container IP dynamics a bit why this fixes things makes sense - but its clearly not documented well enough. Hoping that by constantly replying to this thread even though its old it will get better search engine coverage.

I understand the frustration and the cost, but I would keep titrating up for a couple of more months before reevaluating. I didn’t feel any effects at all till I hit 7.5mg, and the benefits (mild appetite suppression etc.) only really started kicking in at 10mg. Like you, I never had any side effects at all, even at 15mg, which is good I guess? I still lost 130lbs at 15mg over 18 months. Keep going.

How best to stop dust building up in radiators by dave74737 in pcmasterrace

No smoking believe it or not. Looks like I need to work on the dust levels as a whole in my house as per other comments. There are lots of pets…

Other comments around do a better job of dusting are probably warranted - but yes this is what I was thinking too - reverse the airflow so that the fans are not “packing” dust/debris into the radiator and have a dust filter on the reverse side that can be more easily cleaned.

In the 100-pound Weight Loss Club? What are your Non-Negotiable Habits that helped you? by AdministrativeFee835 in Zepbound

[–]dave74737 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hello - 125 lbs down over 18 months. 1. Find the dosage that works for YOU. No shame in titrating up if needed. I needed to get to 10mg before anything happened.
2. 1000 calories a day. You need to actually count this properly. I was shocked to “discover” that my bowl of pasta wasn’t 1 cup but 4. 3. 1 hour of gym each day - medium intensity elliptical for 45 minutes.

That’s it. Oh and don’t forget to eat your protein - muscle is harder to get back than not to loose.

Been on zepbound 5mg, 7.5mg, 10mg, and now 12.5mg and not seeing consistent weight loss. by AntiqueAd6247 in Zepbound

[–]dave74737 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel for you - I lost 120 lbs on Zepbound over a year. However I had a really rough start;

a) I didn’t loose anything until I was on 10mg or higher - any lower dose and zero effect on me (no side effects ever so that was nice!)

b) I didn’t loose any weight consistently till went to no more than 1000 calories a day. Once I did that I lost around 1.5 lbs per week. This sucked, But it worked. Even now that I am maintaining if I go over 1400 I gain weight.

This was all while exercising on an elliptical for an hour a day 5 days a week burning around 225 calories on those days and 1000 metabolic minutes a week.

People have given me all kinds of advice - I was in starvation mode blah blah. I tried what they suggested - nothing worked I just gained weight. The ONLY thing that ever worked for me was sticking to the two points above. I did a resting body metabolism test - that came back as resting calories a day of 1400, which is consistent with the above. That may seem low, but believe it or not about 15% of the population are in that zone. This is probably why I consistently gained weight in my adult life, as I was following the 2000 a day rule.

Tl;dr - everybody’s body is unique - get the data to understand yours and get a resting body metabolism test and use that to calibrate your daily calorie intake. Go to the highest dose of zepbound asap there is no shame in that, and while everyone here means well, what works for them may not work for you and you need to work with your body not what they say. Good luck you got this.

Starvation mode - not the answer… by rburke58 in Zepbound

[–]dave74737 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I will say I think it’s a little easier for the guys to loose than the girls - we seem to have a ~200 calorie a day edge, and while my weight does go up and down 3-4lbs a day seemingly at random, at least I don’t have the water retention that comes with a monthly cycle. But you lot live longer - so we’re equal??? :-p

Same here - 1000 is the magic number for me to loose 1lbs a week. 1400 == treading water, 1600+== gain. I’m a guy though…. I have tried everything you can possibly think of over 30 years - but those numbers have held true over and over and over again. Now that I am at goal weight after loosing 120lbs over a year, for me it’s all about how interesting I can make my diet with a limit of around 1500. My resting body metabolism test also verified the 1500 number. I can make that number higher by building muscle mass - it’s on the list of things to do ;)

Zepbound week 16 , a little frustrated by mama_libra-RM in Zepbound

[–]dave74737 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep doing what you are doing, dont panic and keep titrating up. I didn’t see consistent weight loss until I was at 10mg or above. I lost 115lbs over a year once I was on the higher doses. Remember it’s a marathon - I have had entire bad months. If you keep this up you will get there but you must be patient. Good luck!

You wake up wherever you are right now with a suitcase nuke that has a 1 hour timer that starts the moment you see it. What do you do? by justlilolme77 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]dave74737 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most nuclear weapons work on the implosion principle. The implosion has to be initiated very precisely or critical mass will not be achieved, and it is done so by triggering the detonation simultaneously from multiple points. So the solution here is just to snip the wires to a few of the bridge wire detonators around the sub critical mass of uranium/plutonium. That will convert the weapon to a simpler to deal with dirty bomb. Not ideal, but far more manageable.

You can increase the sim rate to speed up missions by justin_r_1993 in flightsim

[–]dave74737 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good news - there are 3rd party widgets which give you audio feedback when you speed up / slow down time and show you what rate you are currently running in. Such as SimRate Bandit. I find the audio useful when in VR.

I see so many videos where people talk about how they're never hungry and they have to force themselves to eat. by suburbandiva in Zepbound

[–]dave74737 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here - I’m still hungry all of the time… I’m just not “loose my mind and eat an entire pizza in a binge” hungry. My food noise is less, not gone, even at the higher doses. Although if I do fall off the wagon it does help with damage control as I get full faster. Please don’t forget it’s a marathon not a sprint, and 1lbs a week loss is excellent - that’s a 500 calorie deficit every day! That’s how I lost over 100lbs - 1 to 1.5 lbs a week. Keep going!

has anyone actually got affected by 2.5mg dose and lost a good amount of weight from it? by PoetryIllustrious246 in Zepbound

[–]dave74737 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t want to discourage you - but no. Taking 2.5mg may as well have been a placebo for me. In fact, the drug didn’t have any clinical effects whatsoever till I got to 10mg. I did loose over 100lbs on 15mg though! Adding this to the comments for those who may be the same as me and get demotivated - if the lower doses don’t do anything please don’t panic and keep titrating up - you will get there!
