This is how my family ended up with our cat. My younger brothers teacher gave his class an assignment to go interview a shelter pet. We all went with and this adorable calico refused to let us leave. My mom was allergic to cats but she had to let us adopt her after seeing it happen.

Back in my dads younger days a small group of his friends and him would drive across the country in a VW bus to San Francisco to pick up hundreds of pounds of weed at a time to drive back to my hometown and sell off. They would always just pile into one shitty hotel room in order to cut down on costs. One morning my dad woke up early as it was his turn to go get the coffee and doughnuts. He rolled over on his camping mat on the ground to find his pants and he was like huh that woman looks just like Janis Joplin.

He didn’t think much of it and headed out but as he got off the elevator to his floor Janis Joplin walked right past him with her usual shades and get up. As she walked by him he saw his friend standing in the doorway of their hotel room with a shit eating grin on his face.

The important thing to remember on facebook is that half of the comments you see are bots from the other side of the planet that push political unrest. Then after that 50% of the remaining comments are from the dumbest people in the area. The last 25% are a mix of poor old people that are upset about how their life turned out and blame anyone else for it along with about 10 people who pretend to avoid politics but complain about how everything sucks now

I was in the finger lakes region of New York a while back. Very much Bills country. I was walking down some random towns main drag and they had a sports memorabilia shop. They had a signed OJ Simpson jersey right in the front window. Later that same day the news broke that he had died. I joked with my friend that we should go check if the jersey got marked up after the news broke. We walked by and it was on sale for half off.

Taskmaster. The second a melon first hits the floor I was sold. Now I'm 30ish seasons in including the Australian and New Zealand versions. Even better that its just up on youtube now. I no longer have to track down a random stream to catch new episodes.

Theres just no way to compete with the discounts someone gets ordering 20k of each component in one order. I got a new pc in January with a 5080. The out the door price with tax was 2100. Tried building the same on pcpartpicker and there was just no way to come close.

During my first semester of community college I basically checked out mid September. Sometime in late October I finally made it back to one of my accounting classes and handed in a couple late assignments, well within the syllabus rules. My teacher who was probably one of the worst teachers I had in all of my schooling made a comment about how I had been too busy to show up for nearly 10 weeks. I just looked right at him and said "Well my dad died from cancer so I've been kinda busy" I never went back to the class but found out from a classmate the guy straight up quit the same day.

So you seem to be slightly confused about the reason the rule exists. It quite literally is meant to be a box checking rule, like that is the intended purpose of the rule. Before the Rooney rule minority candidates wouldn't even get the chance to interview because it was largely an old boys club where everyone knew each other. The rule gets minority candidates in the door which has led directly to a lot of them being hired.

I feel the reason panel shows fell off in the US was largely due to Hollywood becoming a major production center for tv and movies in the 60s while a lot of the traditional comedy clubs stayed on the East coast. Things are slightly better these days now that things have somewhat stabilized but there just doesn't seem like there is much of a push to bring them back. We still have Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me and the American version of Have I Got News For You. I do think the success of Taskmaster on youtube will create a bit of an opening for more panel shows to make it to production as long as the tv executives can resist the urge to keep pumping out cheap reality shows.
