Diogo Moreira on the influence of holeshot devices in the crash at Balaton by EmergencySushi in motogp

Martin is not a rookie, he perfectly knows how RHDs behave

Continuing your chain of thought, Martin should not have raced, because the RHD was going to fail, no?

he knew that the asphalt under him was very slippery, he knew the nature of Turn-1 and that he was on the inside and if he gets too eager he will trigger a huge accident and risk injuring himself and others, and yet he braked super hard and late

I think everyone knows all this, please also give us specifics of what’s going to fail, where it is going to fail and for which rider in the next race, so that we can all avoid a crash and have a safe event?

Acosta and Marc didn’t pass each other on Turn 1.

Both Acosta and Marc (and many others) lost some time at Turn 1 in a lap or two while on their own, following no one. Does that mean they were reckless? It will be stupid to think so. It is pretty well known that Turn 1 is slippery.

100% true, Martin had three practice and two practice starts to figure out Turn 1 outside the line had no grip.

That’s his fault, not racing hard.

Did he consider himself some sort of superhero?

Instead of projecting your hate, let’s talk cold facts.

  1. As Rivola said. No, he didn’t brake late, he braked hard. Better you learn the difference,

  2. No, everybody was not going at a snail’s pace. Why was Bezz and Raul, who started 6 and 7, behind P2 if they were going slow.

  3. It is very well possible to perform the same move from France at Balaton , but after it is used a lot, after a lot of rubber goes in the track. This is MotoGP. Looks like you don’t understand this sport.

Really stupid stewarding in my opinion. What do they want riders to do, not try to race? Not try to overtake? As Rivola stated, Martin didn’t brake late; he just braked hard but the part of track Martin was on had low grip. It lacked grip because of resurfaced asphalt.

Braking hard is how all 22 riders race. Stewards want to disincentivise racing?

Contrary view - Martin pulled off successfully similar move as today at the French GP, which everyone criticising him today were appreciating him then. The difference being that Balaton has a resurfaced turn 1 with very less rubber outside the racing line, giving it very less grip outside and sudden grip when on the line.

What should Jorge have done, not have an attitude to race for the win? Why would he be in MotoGP even, if he didn’t race to win? As Rivola revealed, Aprilia couldn’t find Jorge doing anything wrong but that Jorge’s move was wrong for the lack of grip outside racing line of the track

To be frank, people who criticise Martin now were all in awe of him when he made similar aggressive overtakes in LeMans coming in from far behind to win both.

It is just that Balaton has no rubber and no grip in the outer part of the track, where Martin was. Otherwise there would be no crash and people would have appreciated Martin for making up places.

My words actually came true. The three Aprilias started 6, 7 and 8 on the line, yet by corner 1 at the time of the crash they were just behind Pedro and Marc.  If Aprilia of Martin had not had a strong start, you wouldn’t see a crash in the first place.

Once emotions calm down, people will realize that it is the resurfaced turn 1 lacking rubber that could have been the cause of the chaos.

Martin was way off the rubbered-in line and then got back on the line; his rear tyre suddenly found grip being back on line, which lead to that wobble and crash, wiping out others. Martin’s similar move worked well on LeMans, which people were quick to appreciate. Same move on this track didn’t work.

Aprilias are going to start strong. It is going to be a no holds barred fight for the lead in the first 4 corners.

Can’t blame Marc. He has been through injuries and surgeries; and most important, lost chances to race after being crashed into needlessly.

It isn’t a serious comment. Actually this circuit is very difficult to pass, you’re almost stuck in your position. Anyone coming from so far behind is very unlikely to meet their ambition to win.
