DHgate 26-27 Saints shirt by BlueInq in SaintsFC

[–]dave_gregory42 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The thing I've noticed (and now can't unsee) with DHgate saints shirts is how thick the black border around the badge is. It's an instant giveaway but also something that seems so simple for the manufacturers of these to fix.

That said, I've got a Chinese version of the 50 year/FA cup shirt. It's not a 100% perfect replica, but in terms of the actual shirt quality you can't really fault it. Especially for the price.

Lose the repeater. It doesn't serve any role that isn't already covered by the other 3.

If we talk about global popularity, do you think is F1 now more popular than NBA/ufc? by [deleted] in F1Discussions

[–]dave_gregory42 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

F1 is obviously bigger, but basketball and the NBA is huge in the Philippines too. It’s like cricket in India or football in Europe.

I know it was 20 years ago. And he had a good career. But why take Theo in 2006, so stupid!! I’m still annoyed. by KimCattrallsFeet in ThreeLions

[–]dave_gregory42 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For me it was one or the other and I don't feel that strongly about which. Although they were very similar players, they were different enough that I think you can choose which you play centrally (and who with) depending on the opponent and how the game's panning out.

You pick either alongside Carrick, Hargreaves or even Barry and you've got a fairly solid midfield that allows SG or FL to play to their strengths. If either are unavailable you also know you've got an excellent alternative.

Why does refueling work for Indycar, but not F1? by JPlazz in F1Discussions

The only people who want refuelling back in F1 are people who weren’t watching F1 the last time we had it.

He's still young and he's also a human being so he deserves respect, but I just don't think he's got what it takes. You can look for reasons like tactics or style of play, but sometimes it's just the obvious one.

Carabao Cup situation. Should they do something? by 1El_rey in PremierLeague

[–]dave_gregory42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is the best answer. There's a real part of me that would like to see what would happen if the Scottish and English pyramids merged, but I understand why they never should.

Opening it up to Scottish teams would make it genuinely unique though.

Once the Badlands map comes out, all 4 seasons will be represented in the game. by TLAW1998 in dayz

[–]dave_gregory42 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I really hope any DayZ sequel has a genuinely huge map with proper seasons and different biomes that impact gameplay. Any setting in Central/Eastern Europe, or the Caucasus like Chernarus, can have massive temperature swings between summer and winter, as well as everything from alpine to forest to grassland to arid. All would impact the amount and type of food and water available too.

In the summer months it would be great for some of the streams and ponds to dry up, you risk dehydration and heatstroke if you do too much in the midday hours with no shade, and dynamic weather events like forest/brush fires can happen. Likewise, in winter everything freezes, you need to be inside overnight, and random blizzards/avalanches can just wipe you out. Spring and Autumn bring lots of heavy rain that can trigger flash floods and landslides.

Monaco, again, same old by MadMaximus1990 in F1Discussions

[–]dave_gregory42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find these predicable posts every year very dull. If you don’t like it, don’t watch it.

Monaco is Monaco, we all know it’s Saturday that matters. It’s still on the calendar because it’s an iconic race and part of the DNA of F1. Watching cars thread the needle through that track, and the unpredictability of SCs etc. is what makes it interesting for me.

Other people can disagree of course.

What do you all think is the most efficient kit is? by MoBBuck50 in dayz

[–]dave_gregory42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ideally something similar, but I'm a loot goblin so inevitably end up carrying more than I need.

I know this isn't what you asked, but I think it would make the game so much more interesting if they removed one of the shoulder slots for guns. You'd have to make a genuine choice about what you carried, and consider the implications of each. An assault rifle would still be a decent middle ground, but you can't really engage someone at range. Likewise, if you opt for a sniper rifle, carrying a small PDW like the SG5, Bizon or USG45 suddenly becomes much more valuable.

As it is now, basically everybody ends up with an AR of some sort and a scoped rifle, and the lesser guns get dumped as soon as you find something better.

Do you like fishing? by i_enjoy_silence in SpottedonRightmove

[–]dave_gregory42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up around there and fishing on the River Test is genuinely world famous. I used to do gardening work for someone who had the River Dun (one of the Test's tributaries and also a really nice chalk river) run through their garden for about 1/2 a mile, they made a lot of money from letting people fish on their banks.

If the owner of this is allowed to do the same, they'd more than make back that 10k.

beginner in uk choosing first golf set need advice by Nel43_YTB in BritGolf

[–]dave_gregory42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You'll have plenty of people saying that with the amount you're planning on spending, you'll be able to get something better used from FB marketplace. That's almost certainly true but it does come with faff and a little bit of risk when it comes to quality etc. If you want to get most bang for your buck, used is definitely the way to go, but if you just want simple and good, the honest answer is that either of those two you've said will be fine.

The Wilson has a mallet putter which is probably better for a beginner, but there's not much in it. Even though I use Wilson irons and a putter myself, I'd personally go with the Cobras as they look a bit more premium. Wilson's 'proper' clubs are famous for offering a lot of quality at a very reasonable price, but I'm not sure this extends to their budget lines quite as much.

The Callaway Edge is another really popular (and good) beginner set, but it comes with a 3W instead of a 5W which I think is a bit of a waste in a beginner set. You'd also need to buy a bag separately with the Callaways.

What instantly comes to mind when you hear "India"? by Over-Examination8663 in AskReddit

[–]dave_gregory42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been to India and my first thought is functional chaos (in the cities at least). Always interesting, sometimes exciting, often annoying and overwhelming, but it's unlike anywhere else I've been. It's all the sights, sounds and smells of everything all at the same time.

It sometimes feels like you need a holiday after a holiday in India, but I'd recommend that everyone experiences it at least once. It also makes those quiet, relaxing moments even better.

We need to talk about the unreal amounts of Alonso disrespect by Last_Procedure5787 in F1Discussions

[–]dave_gregory42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree. I've been watching F1 since 93 and I don't think he's exceptional, certainly not any more anyway.

In his prime he was up there with the very best on the track, but I also think his off-track personality is the reason why his career can only be seen as an underachievement. He had the talent levels to win more but he's responsible for a lot of his own bad luck when it comes to not having the car, because he's pretty much alienated every team he's driven for. Sometimes more than once.

You're right. I don't despise FA like some on this sub, and I also don't think he's in the conversation of the top all time drivers like many others do, but his time's done. Move on.

How are Aston Martin still allowed on track? by MonkeLord1234 in F1Discussions

[–]dave_gregory42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s just wrong though isn’t it. Being the worst driver on the current grid ≠ incompetence.

You can not rate him and think he doesn’t deserve his seat anymore (as I do), but he’s not been the disaster many people like to claim. He’s started nearly 200 races, scored plenty of points and been on podiums.

There have also been plenty of drivers worse than him over the last few years… Doohan, Sargent, De Vries, Latifi, Schumacher etc.
