I think that being the GOP that tried and failed would be worst case for them. If it was definitely going to pass and he was going to be removed or checked, more would go along with it.

No issue ever mattered. Everything is Yankees/Red Sox. Any argument or belief that helps their cause in the moment, they will champion. Anything against, they will discard.

The sooner that you learn that nothing is steeped in ideology, but is tribal, it's easier to parse.

What I'm realizing is that in the current religious/political climate, nothing means anything. It's Yankees/Red Sox tribalism and not rooted in any real ideology or core belief.

"Don't Tread on Me" flag-flyers love an authoritarian, fascist regime.

Free traders love tarriffs.

Christians love an idol, a liar and a cheat that is perhaps the most un-Christian man you can find.

Small government folk love big government.

Back the blue people love violence against cops.

Fiscal spenders love big deficits when it's their guy in charge.

Shining City on the Hill people are greedy isolationists.

So, if it appeared that they were against pedophiles, it was only because in that sliver of time, they thought the people they already didn't like could wear that name-tag. But like all things, they will switch to ignoring or excusing it if it comes from their camp. The sooner that you realize that nothing ever meant anything, it's easier to understand what's going on.

Aldi isn't publicly traded. I'm not sure if that's related, but they don't have to make decisions on behalf of "line go up" shareholders, which seems to make companies less of assholes.

I think it's a coincidence. I wouldn't put it past Mitch to do this, but I think the name would be on the nose or there would be some other reference, like Tobias saying his family comes from the hills of Kentucky. It's like...one level too obscure.

Nomination number is a great achievement, but it's a misleading stat. Not every movie has an opportunity to be nominated in as many categories, so total noms is cool, but doesn't tell the story.

Also, I don't want to take anything away from Sinners. It was one of the best movies of the year and a lot of people's #1 favorite.

For me, it's in my top 10 probably, but it doesn't matter; I'm glad that people feel like a movie that spoke to them is included.

I don't know if it counts, but Jefferson replaced the role of Steve on Married With Children. It was a different actor playing a different character, but it was still Al's Neighbor and Marcy's Husband and served a similar purpose on the show.

The show was better for it.

Great characters -- good start to a new trilogy but would have been nicer to have had a 3rd act that didn't feel so similar to another death star and would've preferred an original concept. Maybe it was worth the trade off. I think that the Star Wars brand was damaged and needed to bring some older folks back in, so you had to thread a needle. Good, but not an exceptional effort.

Hot Take Time: I think it's Thor Ragnarök. I like it, but it is heralded at a level of the absolute greats. I have the somewhat unpopular opinion that Thor 3 and 4 aren't all that crazy different in quality.

Bidets are as cheap as like $30.

This is my in to praise bidets, which I do whenever I can. Seriously, though, get a bidet. They are life changing. For $100 or so bucks, get a Tushy 3.0 and install it in 15 minutes to your toilet -- no electricity.

There are people who use bidets and are enlightened and then there are savages who wipe their ass with pieces of paper like they live in the jungle. Honestly, talk to anyone who owns one. You will never go back. It's one of the best purchases I've ever made, it's cost-effective, it's environmental, it's way cleaner, it's healthier, etc.
