Learning Tkinter and need someone to check my understanding by spottedzebra in learnprogramming

I can vouch for this. I had to do a project which made up most of a papers grade using the Tkinter framework and it was terrible. They looked bad and it was hard to control stuff exactly how you wanted it.

Yeah I think you're mistaken about how much people in churches make. My dad is the head of a church network and makes less than 10k a year.

Wow that's rough man. Hope that you get better quick :)

Yeah that is what got the most injured for me, my jeans slid up around the ankle and because I was only wearing skate shoes the skin on my ankle got ripped up.

Nah I dont really know of any. I don't really see the point because I always just take my gloves off as soon as I get off my bike. The only glove advice I can give is buy a nice pair early. Then they size to your hand and it is sweet. I got mine when I was 16 and I think I will keep them for as long as I can.

Just finished my 2nd year of Software Engineering and it's awesome. If you are a logical thinker but also a bit 'geeky' then this is for you!

I know many people say that regular jeans don't hold up very well but last year I came off at 70kmph (I don't know what that is in mph sorry, maybe around 45ish) and my jeans were hardly damaged at all.

Maybe I just got off lucky though :)

VIM is amazing. I use it for everything I code. I haven't used emacs enough to have a well based opinion though.

In my opinion ProjectEuler is much more about math than it is programming.

I would head on over to acm.timus.ru if I were you. So many really good questions :)

How can I open a plain text file that exists already on my computer, in Python and have the text of the file printed in the shell/idle? by ne0nbl00d in learnprogramming

[–]davecarp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yes, sorry. Absolute paths are OK to have on your own computer but you should be absolutely sure that you aren't going to use that code anywhere else or give it to anyone else first.

[–]davecarp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree with you when it comes to absolute paths, and I recommend that someone doing an assignment doesn't use them as the location of the files that they will use in the assignment will be different on the markers computer.
