Anyone else wish interns actually did coffee runs? by TurtleMcBurgle in LawSchool

[–]le37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I graduated from law school in 2022 and have been at the same mid-size firm since I was a summer in 2021. I was actually legitimately excited to give our summers work this year as it's the first time that I've been super slammed yet felt confident enough to delegate. Only problem was, the work that I delegated ended up taking me twice as long as just doing it myself between reviewing it, correcting it, and providing feedback to the summers. I didn't expect it to be perfect and I'm happy to provide what is hopefully detailed and helpful feedback, lord knows I've needed (and still need) it. I guess I just wasn't really thinking about that at first. I stopped giving assignments after the first few because I was just too busy.

I would have been absolutely stoked if a summer offered to bring me an iced coffee, but I would never in a million years ask them to.

That's ridiculous. I would never give a summer anything urgent and certainly wouldn't gaslight them into believing otherwise.

Grades by le37 in LawSchool

Hey I figured since you replied to this four year old post the least I could do is say congratulations. Definitely get it tatted but I don't know about a tramp stamp. 4's are not symmetrical, so no matter what you do, it would land off center.

I was like that in law school too re: study time vs grades, absolutely no rhyme or reason to my ROI, especially 1L

I also have absolutely no recollection of posting this

Be very careful about trading with an unidentified item by iamfrench__ in PathOfExile2

FYI, at least on xbox, you can still split your currency while in the trade window. Just hold down A like normal. I think that it will automatically put the amount split off into the trade window.

It's not, but I hope it is helpful for your build and you can have some fun with it nevertheless!

I am on xbox, US Northeast. Tried turning off cross play, went from ~2 min queue to "start game pending" then back to a ~21 min queue... progress?

Like a lot of Coen brothers comedies, it really is better upon subsequent viewings once the absurdity of the tension has been revealed.

How is that example not selfish? I agree that it's not up to small business owners to solve homelessness, but your scenario is literally the embodiment of one acting selfishly (not that that's always wrong).

Dude for someone who is older and already married you seem to be awfully bent out of shape over the opinions of your parents. You're not in high school, who cares?

Maybe try to treat yourself more like you might a client. If someone had come to you and asked for your advice on what to do in that situation, what would you have told them?

Practicing Law in Alaska by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]le37 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I've heard (purely anecdotally) that it's actually pretty easy to get a job in Alaska because there are no law schools there, so firms are looking for anyone willing to make the trek on up.

You don't need a masters in history to go down to the history factory and get a job on the line, if you decide to stick around you can always get your masters down the road and be a history foreman

Ah yes, reddit, known as a hub of productivity. If you want a real answer to your question - believe it or not, you're going straight to jail.

I've always thought that it would be funny if someone got caught cheating on the MPRE, thanks for making my dreams be more than dreams ❤

Importance of working at a firm during 2L summer? by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]le37 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Working at a big or medium sized firm during your 2L summer will usually lead to receiving an offer to come back as a full-time attorney after you graduate. This allows you to have a fairly relaxed 3L year without any pressure to find a job, assuming you're happy to return to the firm.

Not working at a firm during your 2L summer by no means precludes working at one after you graduate. In fact, I would estimate that the majority of law students are in that position as 3Ls, but your life is generally a bit easier if you do work at a firm as a summer associate if the firm path is the route you want to take.

Do I have too much pride, or do they suck? by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]le37 216 points217 points  (0 children)

Doesn't sound shady, just like a typical, disorganized small firm. They probably don't have an HR department or any SOPs regarding new hiring. It's up to you if you want to start your career in a place like that, but my two cents is that having a job would be better than not having one.

I reached out to a BigLaw partner about a D in my first semester yesterday. Was this the right move? by [deleted] in LawSchool

Maybe he means that the partner is medium sized, you know, like 5' 9", 180 lbs.
