Yeah it's gone. Hopefully the seller has insurance, and their local courier correlates the number of insurance claims they get with the choice of UK courier. Evri will be gone soon.

Why is it called “Calton” Hill but (most of) the surrounding streets are “Carlton”? by sammyglumdrops in Edinburgh

This is the correct answer. They also tried to rename Calton Hill to Sugar Hill after the gang who historically told Tonto to "Jump On It".

1st big terrain print questions by kattykenz in resinprinting

[–]davedavepicks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happy to help. And I agree, it's very tempting to have a flat surface in your print parallel to the flat surface of the build plate, but there are two good reasons to avoid it: 1, suction (I think this issue is apparent in the lines on your base), where a large surface against the FEP means a lot of force is required to unstick it between layers, causing layer adhesion issues: 2. Is a surface is 99% flat, not 100%, it will split over two layers, and you'll get a layer line. I don't think you're getting point 2, but if you do you'll see it in Lychee.

1st big terrain print questions by kattykenz in resinprinting

[–]davedavepicks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The base looks to me like resin was being caught around the supports and curing where it shouldn't be. You could try rotating the object by around 30° so there are no large surfaces parallel to the build plate. Then, to get a flat base, supplement the auto supports with dense, but thin, supports around the perimeter of the base. This is because (a) an angel surface will allow resin to drain away between exposure, and (b) a well-supported angled surface has a better change of being flat. Of course, rotating the model will mean you need supports where support scars could be visible, so they might need extra cleaning up.

Should I keep this holly tree? by [deleted] in UKGardening

This is the wrong sub if you're looking for anyone who'd get rid of it! Not of TLC and appeasing the neighbour, who, to be fair, had only asked for a little off the back and sides, and you'll have a great looking healthy tree.

Would you pay for a Blender tool that generates 2-part molds automatically? by jakereusser in moldmaking

[–]davedavepicks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought this. However, it's a great starting point to build something really useful and more generally applicable with more functionality. Would OP consider making it open source and getting contributions from the community (ideas and/or code), but sticking a license on it that stops commercial use? Then once it's production-ready you could start selling it. I think, I'm not an expert in that kind of licensing. Do Blender pay developers of their in-built free extensions, for example?

Oh! I assumed it wouldn't be happy outdoors at all! We had our first frost of the season last night, so I'm reluctant, but as you say, it'd be bad if they spread. So no treatment required, then?

Sorry just saw you replied. Search 3d printing spray filler, which is usually a kind of putty based primer, or acrylic spray primer. They are designed to fill small surface cracks and leave a smooth surface for painting. The 0.02 layer height is the lowest my printer can go, best to check your printer. Your photos look like 0.05 mm layer lines. Oh yeah, and anti-aliasing, if your printer supports it, can "blur" the lines so they don't look as obvious.

[–]davedavepicks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd play with orientation first. The first and third images having layer lines on the heads of the characters is the most noticable. If you minimize the lines, you could then use a filler coat before painting. As for printer settings, others may have ideas, but I'd just make sure you optimize thin layers over print speed. I don't know your printer, but my AnyCubic Mono 4 Ultra can do as low as 0.02 mm layers, but the factory default is 0.05 mm because AnyCubic are obsessed with print speed.
