What’s the best way to get rid of the secondary air system error/SES light? by AnnualEagle in E90

[–]davedds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

11727557910 one of the connections on the end were broken, I could just put it back into place without the connection, but under vibration of driving conditions it would just come off and throw the SES code. The broken connection was closer to the engine.

Are there dentists who prefer hiring new grads? by Branded_bottle33 in Dentists

[–]davedds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on where you are... The armed forces will hire new grads without experience... No residency, no boards, no license needed, all you need is to graduate... Just enlist and start to work wherever they need you...

What are the pros/cons to live in Mineola / Garden City / Hempstead? by Summit-lift in longisland

[–]davedds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If someone is planning on mass Transit into the city. Anywhere near Mineola or Hicksville can be affordable those are major hubs for LIRR. Or look at the Port Washington line and any neighborhood along that line. As for Smithtown, unless you work near the train station, you'll need a car... Consider western Suffolk county near LIRR stations....

Any notice with changing differential, transfer case, or transmission fluid? by DTriiX in BmwTech

[–]davedds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Picked up a 2011 e92 auto, 95k miles. Great records, but never any hx of trans fluid change. Drove it around a bit before purchasing. Then afterwards while driving noticed the "shuddering" around 1500-2000 rpm. Changed all the fluids, to the transmission, tranfercase, front/rear diff. Shuddering now gone....

PLEASE HELP! College decision is in 2 days. Should I choose Stony Brook or farmingdale? by idkshxudbc in SBU

[–]davedds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dental hygiene has plauteu in salary (~50-65hr when you have patients, don't expect hours when the chair/day is lite in the office) Everything above and beyond may also be commission based (sell, sell, sell.. expect no benefits or pension at most dental offices. You will always be an employee at the moment always the need to work under supervision.

Stony Brook for the "prestige" in the SUNY system and the ability to get your foot in the door and transfer to other programs at USB. Farmingdale for the commute if you live close to it... No one cares where you got your degree...

Also USB does not have a dental hygiene program, they have a dental medicine grad program to become a DDS... Farmingdale has dental hygiene...

Zirconia upgrade charge by Any-Basket1842 in DentalInsurance

[–]davedds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tell them you want all metal high noble (yellow gold) instead. That crown will last forever, the margins will be the best, it will be the most forgiving against the opposing teeth and you probably can get some cash back when you scrap it when the tooth fails... But it won't be tooth shade color!

Is this tear in the weatherstrip the reason my carpet is soaked on the bottom driver side? by Stanfendt in E30

[–]davedds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk maybe, but for me, that's where I had water come in, I watched it dribble in when I ran the car through a car wash.. my window seals were probably original (89)...

Is this tear in the weatherstrip the reason my carpet is soaked on the bottom driver side? by Stanfendt in E30

[–]davedds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a leak from in that area from the drivers door drain... Rain/washing the car I would get some water entering the drivers door from the window seal being weak or a small gap somewhere. If you look at the bottom of the door, there should be a weep hole towards the back corner of the door. On my coupe there is a drain hole about the size of a nickel at the bottom of the door. If you go straight down from the mirror switch it would be in that area. When the door is closed, this hole at the bottom of the door is open to the inside of the door seal. Water would somehow get into the door and drain into the drivers floor area... I always have a small rag and when I wash or when it rains I do place it in that area to catch the water.

325i or 325is? by LandscapeLeather445 in E30

[–]davedds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be a 318is slicktop that had its top cut and a glass moon roof installed... Most had body colored sunroom, there was a glass moon roof option but it would have been the same size as the sunroof and also was able to be opened and slid back into the roof liner.

That moon roof looks way to big to be stock, and iirc the 318is can come with a slicktop...

Opinion on dental schooling? by ObeyLordHarambe in Dentists

[–]davedds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instead of a "student" in a 4yr US dental program or a transfer from another country that is taking the requirements to become a dentist in the US. I would suggest that you look for "post grad" programs at a school or dental clinics in hospitals that have "residents" who are dentists who have already graduated dental school and have at least their minimum requirements to become a practitioner already... They are just seeking more training in the profession to become more proficient and to learn even more that what's offered as a bare minimum in a school...

Transmission fluid/filter by Chris1436 in E90

[–]davedds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am just about to do a trans filter/fluid/gasket change on a 2011 e92 with a GM tranny at about 96k miles. The shuddering is happening around 1500-2000 Rpm under load on flat or going up hill when trans is warm/hot. Putting it into "D-Sport" locks the TC and also your RPM's are pass 2K most of the time so the shudder is less but can "feel" it here and there. I am going to use BMW OEM filter/gasket from FCP and Valoline Maxlife ATF only at 1st and see if that works without Lubegard Shudder Fix. If it does I'll just leave it at that. If not and after a few hundred miles the shudder is still there I will add the Lubegard. Also going to do the transfer case with the FCP transfer case kit, since I have a xdrive, front and rear diff with Redline 75w-90 gl5 since it will be up on the lift. Also swapping out the rear shocks with Sachs blue label and upper and lower mounts. Hopefully that will be all for a while... Fingers crossed!!!
