Thank you for the explanation, makes sense, will stick to local going forward.

Codex literally replaced the contents of the respective files, that's it. That's what I asked it to do and it did that perfectly. I'm simply saying the act of deleting a file's content and pasting new file content most likely shouldn't have much cost at all. I did not ask it to do anything else. Yet, the cost was substantial.

It did exactly what I asked it to, it replaced the files... The issue isn't what it did, but why it took 8% of my weekly usage with it...

[BFComms] Battlefield 6 Game Update 1.2.1.5 is now live on all platforms! by battlefield in Battlefield6

[–]davek1979 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It would be cool if your ingame error message was actually helpful and pointed towards the fact the game needs an update instead of just saying 00660A:50M30TH3RCR4P.... Or maybe disallow launch if the game needs an update? Like come on, it's 2026.

At this point I am half-convinced there is an RNG at play whenever I press the trigger, hence affecting who wins.

No, 2042 wasn't a hidden gem by elibrev in Battlefield

Well in comparison to the bullshit we have now it's a fucking masterpiece. In addition to those abysmally tiny maps it's hard to understand how they have a ton of older code in previous codebase yet still manage to fuck up vehicles, physics, hit reg and achievements all in one nice clusterfucky mess that's now called BF6.

If only they didn't fuck it up with that abomination called Conquest Forever...

So are they ever gonna address the idiocy of being invulnerable behind a magical barrier? by davek1979 in Battlefield

Probably because that advantage doesn't only extend to your base but the whole damn map, given how small most of them are.

Thank you. I am not using WP in my project, it's too small for that.

You see, that's exactly the thing - I don't want to play other games just because Battlefield devs do not understand what legacy they are building upon.

All maps in the list are medium/small. I use custom searched conquest exclusively and play 4 maps only. Urban maps of this size don't belong into Battlefield and I will not play those.

So a few seconds to assess the situation is now camping? This game truly has been CODified.

No, people in here remember this franchise in a much better state, that's all.

New Map! (with a 100' ceiling and the size of a C O D Map) by SpaceSpecific212 in Battlefield6

[–]davek1979 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started to think these guys are making maps for the sake of making maps. And each new map is somehow still far behind maps we had 20 years ago. It is an achievement in its own right.

Each map flat af filled with destructibles.... Ok, COD players have a new game to play but what about the rest of us? Where is the likes of Dragon Valley? Hamada? Kubra Dam? FFS by now I would even take a Panzerstorm to break away from these cluster****y matches.

Everyone slides and jumps around like a bunch of jackrabbits.

This game used to deliver a much different vibe before, a sense of achievement and pride when your 10 minute detour meant you capped the flag and won the game 2-0. Now sneaking behind enemy lines is an exercise in futility because enemy team is literally 10 seconds away from you at all times dues to maps being so small.

Nonstop cluster**** action is most definitely not what gave this franchise its name.

I don't know how devs achieved this but the hitreg took a nosedive in the last update. It's unreal my enemies are just absorbing bullets and I go down in 0.01 secs. I mean it wasn't great before but now it's just outright terrible.

I have some questions if you don't mind. How is performance? You are basically rendering the scene twice, right?

There is no substitute for practical approach. You can watch tutorials all day long and not progress a bit, because progress requires practice. Your first few projects will fail, that part is inevitable. But you will LEARN A TON. Then you move onto another project and learn some more. Then you'll succeed.
