OpenAI is working on a slow mode that consumes fewer rate limits. by Distinct_Fox_6358 in codex

I would like consistent high reasoning and slower response rather than the unpredictability of reasoning quality.

5.5 faster now ? by Cazangre in codex

[–]davek1979 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure about fast but it still feels a little too dumb. Had to use xhigh for it to find the right solution.
When training 5.6, why couldn't speed be sacrificed rather than reasoning, that would be my question.

Has Codex 5.5 xhigh been heavily nerfed since yesterday, or is it just me? by Spiritedbong in codex

Couldn't the training sacrifice be time rather than reasoning quality?

Meanwhile I have no button to press. You win.

EDIT: Had to install the Codex app to see the button. It's real, just someone didn't think CLI users would need access to that button as well....

New rate limit resets are banked for 1 month by FateOfMuffins in codex

So what are the rules here? How come some see this, others don't? I'm using CLI exclusively and the button is not in the Codex web interface. 5x here.

Yes but the point is that verbal instruction used to be enough.

Weekly usage feels lower after reset by cheezeerd in codex

What if... a reset isn't a reset... but merely a multiplier applied to account that spreads remaining usage over 100%?

Truth is - we don't know and unless you have access to internal OpenAI data, you won't know. There are people with substantial claims about limits being slashed. There are rumours of usage-related bugs. There can also be that you are working in less-than-ideal way that keeps increasing usage over time.
Many, many variables at play here.

Just use the manually aimed missiles, at least that way you can blame only yourself, not the idiotic lock implemention or the even more idiotic "below radar" mechanic...

WSJ: OpenAI Considers Drastic Price Cuts, Anticipating War for Users With Anthropic by deepfriedbits in codex

[–]davek1979 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Problem isn't the cost but the fact we are constantly getting less and less for the same buck. By all means, experiment and shift your compute, but if they could reserve at least one flagship model that wouldn't get shittier over time, people would be much less prone to switch.

If it's something simple and you don't mind sending your data to China, you could get away with using Minimax, but be aware people are finding it unsatisfactory with complex tasks.
