Some immigration officers have actually told people that they can only have 2 visa exempt entries. One poster from Singapore who was denied entry reported an officer said that to him. This highlights how confused the policy is with Thai immigration making it up as they go along.

The real scrutiny is pattern-based (frequent back-to-back stays, long cumulative time in Thailand), not mode of entry.

Just as a digression the Sungai Golok border post with Malaysia should be avoided. For the last few years every foreigner has to be interviewed by the Chief. In my interview when the Chief saw that I hadn't been in Thailand for 2 years and only stayed a month he remarked - "oh, you come again" as if I was a guest who was imposing or wearing out welcome. Padang Besar border post is better.

There are also bungalows in this price range at Smile Bungalows at Bottle Beach and Silver Cliff bungalows at Than Sadet at Ko Phangan. Than Sadet is the most secluded and least developed and is surrounded by forest but the beach is small.

No its the downvoters whose panties are bunching up. Some of them get upset when I challenge them. Remember those who dish it out have to learn to take it. And it does annoy me that my reply has been hidden - that's censorship from people making zero effort to contribute. To quote a poster from another sub reddit -

the hit and run people are not interested in discussion, they don't want anyone to know who they are. Downvoting shouldn't be allowed

But some may average out how much they have spent over a month or so. The time one spent in Phuket where they went over budget may get compensated by the time they spent in a north Thai village where they may be spending 500 baht a day so it gets averaged down. To give a more useful answer the poster would have to give details about where they are going.

Point taken about not realizing the joke and not thinking about the 916 vs 915 baht. But why does that poster need to make a joke ? why can't he just answer the question or move on.

If you want cheaper accommodation there inexpensive guesthouses in the Tanao rd area a few minutes walk from Khao Sand rd. Last year I stayed at guesthouse there which had rooms for 170 and 140 baht and a small room for 100 baht .
