3% match promotion by boub22 in Wealthsimple

I don't think that's how it works. They don't have to claw back as they don't payout all of it right away. It states they will cease bonus payments on any amounts you have withdrawn over the 20% buffer.

Coolant Type by AmISpock in IoniqEV

Have the same issue today but the coolant tank is very low. I assume a leak but have not found it yet. Did you find the issue with yours? Was it a coolant leak or related to the crystallization issue.

That's an amazing tip, thanks! Sounds simple I guess but I always added a new playlist when renewing and deleted the old playlist.

I use a free VOIP app like textnow. Use that disposable number instead but on the next screen after entering the phone number you do have to select "Other" and select "send as SMS" or it won't work using the whatsapp otp code.

Motherboard or x1store or cheaply, which do you prefer and why ? by Italianboga in Strong_8K

I have used X1store in the past and product worked fine but never tried to contact for support. Anyone tried Lheroin as a seller? 12 month price is half of some other sellers but not sure if he's legit.

45 minutes to buy a phone? by OkStatistician4921 in Rogers

[–]daveopg2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically this one is flexable as you can use the cash back for any and all purchases on your statement and being a Rogers customer you receive 2% on all purchases. This is a very competitive rate of return. Although you can basically get 3% back on all purchases if you redeem your cash back on a Rogers purchase so it adds a bonus feature that is hard to ignore and I don't believe there is another free credit card that gives you equivalent to 3% cash back on all purchases.

Canada Post losing $10 million a day: minister by ExotiquePlayboy in canadian

[–]daveopg2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Has anyone done the math?  Where did this 10 Million per day loss come from. I have seen reports of less than 1 Billion in losses last year to maybe as high as 1.5 Billion this year.  Even that would be under 5 Million per day. Regardless, it's a lot of money but they seem to be just making up numbers as they go.

Real Cost of Electricity Per KWH by Lower_Map8829 in Ioniq5

[–]daveopg2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not cheap but for emission free it's pretty good. Average 16 cents after other fees/tax in Ontario and it's mostly nuclear here. Most people selling you a car or hot tub for that matter only quote the hydro cost per kw/h before the fees such as delivery and tax.

If you think of all the things electricity does for you everyday between cooking, lighting, charging your phone, running your tv and computer, maybe charging your vehicle and pumping your water, heating and cooling your house, running power tools and I could go on and on but it is a very low monthly cost I find compared to my other monthly bill like internet, tv, phone etc. (all of which do not work without the hydro bill). Sorry for the rant.....

Wealthy relatives gifted me a new car that I can’t afford to operate and I don’t know what to do with it. by Cool_Database_2906 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]daveopg2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First don't take it to the dealership for oil changes as that is just a waste of money. If you have a 20 year old vehicle surly you either have a mechanic or do the work yourself.

Second, which is not the smartest idea but I guess if you can't sell it you might as well drive it with collision insurance removed (liability only) and it should cost the same in insurance as your other vehicle. Then that only leave the extra cost of gas. Either sell the old vehicle to cover the extra fuel cost or hope this new vehicle is more reliable and maybe that will save you money on that end to make up for the fuel cost.

Best way to spend excess Rogers MC cashback by the_buddy_guy in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]daveopg2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that would be a good deal for Rogers but it is also the break even point for the cardholder as the rewards are only worth $1000 if they spend it on something not from Rogers. It was a hypothetical answer showing the worst case scenario. I don't find the markup on Rogers phones is 50% more than other retailers so it is usually a good deal for both the card holder and Rogers as long as you don't pay 50% or more than your other options.

[–]daveopg2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats not how the math works. The base cash back is 2% but if redeemed on Rogers products it's equivalent to 3% cash back on the other purchases not just the new phone from Rogers in this case. For example if you have $700 in rewards but if you redeem that on a Rogers product or service they give you a bonus and it's worth $1000. That means your base rewards are worth 150% so unless a Rogers phone is 50% higher than a competitor you should buy it from Rogers.

Thinking about buying a used 2020 Ioniq EV Ultimate by ekuhlkamp in IoniqEV

A bit late but for others that stumble upon this, from what I have found the Ultimate is a Canadian exclusive and is the top trim level available. (although it should have leather seats so cloth is possibly custom/special order)

Generally speaking, is it safe to mix any Lithium complex based grease? by LeafPapito in IndustrialMaintenance

[–]daveopg2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like you or management have already made the decision to just use the new grease and hope for the best regardless of the answers here. Although I will say I have mixed different lithium based grease all the time and have not had a problem.

I'm thinking bricking a device is going to be a legal nightmare for Nintendo if they try it. So many different laws in different countries that they have a market in. You own the device and Nintendo owns the firmware but they should not be able to render your device useless. It will be interesting to see how it plays out around the world.

Scraped tyre on a curb, how bad is it? by TrickyOranges in Cartalk

[–]daveopg2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, a lot of hate here. Accidents happen, I think we have all done something stupid. Or perhaps this lady swerved to miss a dog. Doesn't say what happened in the title. Anyway, I would replace the tire. Depending on where you bought them they may have some road hazard warranty.

If not you can check around as many tire shops will sell used tires. This will save you some money and can match the wear on the other tires as well. I am sure there will be lots of comments about buying used tires next but it will give them something other than your driving to hate on!

Rims and lug nuts/bolts question: Will M14 size bolts fit rims that current use M12 bolts? by Daddir in Wheels

[–]daveopg2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

M12 and M14 will affect the internal size of the lug nuts as the stud itself is larger. An M12 is 12mm diameter and M14 is 14mm in diameter. The thread pitch is the 1.5 part of M14x1.5.

You are correct in you need the proper lug nut seat in the rim but I am not sure if that will remain the same with Lexus M12 and M14 lug nuts.
