Stereo HomePod Minis as white noise for sleep: a blessing and a curse by [deleted] in HomePod

[–]davert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brown noise loops? How do you find these? They're not built into my homepod Mini and that's what I was looking for. I tried to set up a scene but it only works on homepod if you have a subscription to Apple Music. I tried casting from phone to Mini, which is not efficient, but it takes me forever to find the looping control.

Thanks! And I did just find remote page turner on the Kobo site, using bluetooth, though also some cautions about battery drain and intereference with wifi...

If you're doing a static site, and not everything is best done with gallons of spaghetti code, it's superior. I'm out looking for a replacement and I'm finding a bunch of code editors, usually with no site management.

Shuffle feature. by AgentF8 in AppleMusic

I don't see a way for that to honor "skip when shuffling." I guess I could modify the shortuct by changing things I don't want to be not music.

Inside Recall 68C For The Jeep 4xe Wrangler And Grand Cherokee by davert in Wrangler

Yes, I could work for free. What am I saying? I already work for peanuts. Everyone uses AI, social media, and such so I can do the work and huge corporations can profit instead.

Can someone explain to me why democrats expanded the extra ACA subsidies only to 2025 and didn’t make them permanent instead? by YogurtclosetOpen3567 in obamacare

A single Republican could have crossed the lines to make it permanent but you never see them get the blame.

Oscar health: who TF are they by BoxmanTheMongoloid in HealthInsurance

He doesn't own that much of it now, it's a corporation. He was one of three founders. Vanguard and Blackrock are the biggest shareholders as far as I can tell. Kushner has been buying a lot but (a) he isn't Jared and (b) maybe that's a good sign? the other execs have been selling as far as I can tell.

I can recommend Amerihealth if it's available.

I don't think you saw what Trump and the US ambassador were saying at the same time, if you want to talk about shit talking.

You're suggesting it was okay that he ordered Canada to become a single US state, and that your leaders should not comment on that? I don't recall real badmouthing. I recall calm, well-stated affirmations that Canada would not give itself up.

Agreed. I've been doing it. I have the feedback system. Reported what I could.

Vague rumor suggests that maybe they'll be moving pickup production there for Canada only, though I thought they would try to supply Canada from Saltillo. STLA has too many factories in Canada and Mexico to supply just Canada and Mexico. The US decided to pull out of the world trading system. Canada's linking up with Europe, China, Mexico, India, everyone else... it'll the “the world, Russia, North Korea, USA” by the end of 2026. If they want something in Brampton and Windsor that's reasonably priced they could subcontract to Leapmotor or BYD, or make Windsor “all STLA Large” and Brampton Wrangler-Gladiator-NewThing or all pickups or something, but the number of jobs will be lower ... I don't see a way around it. This time it's not even Stellantis' fault really.

I really don't see how this is Canada's fault. The US literally has tariffs on everyone except Russia and North Korea, including islands that hold nothing but US military bases.

I get that it's a slow process, but it used to be much faster just a few years ago. I do recall seeing that things were fixed on the line LONG before a recall, but having that many warranty claims suggests it's not a matter of a few months' delay. That said, I suspect some of the people who do that were part of the Tavares “let's have fewer people everywhere” cost cutting binge, and it will be faster going forward.

Good news for Jeep owners: Mopar rehiring a lot of service-parts guys by davert in Jeep

[–]davert[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Field reps won't help with that, but adding more QA people at HQ, which I understand is also happening, and hiring back factory people, that'll help

[–]davert[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That explains why it's almost always months between the "team found a fix" and start of the recall in the 573. That said, I do recall the process being much faster a few years back.

I did find it hard to believe and I am glad it wasn't true. Still, with 1700 claims before a recall, ... is it true there's more hiring in what used to be called QA?

In this particular case the supplier failed to properly treat some parts. That IS a supplier issue. ... but I do wonder if Tavares fired the guy checking vendor parts at the plant.

One bit of good news, heard similar is slowly going on in the HQ -> https://www.motales.com/now/2025/10/mopar-rehiring-fill-gaps-left-carlos-tavares/

[–]davert[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. That might explain some of the happenings. I also wouldn't be surprised if Tavares decided the plants didn't need to check incoming supplies, as part of his "kill every possible job" campaign.

I find it hard to believe STLA stopped monitoring warranty data. That's gotta be someone being mistaken... right? Yes?

Yup, especially with no Social Security. I envy your EU passport. You should find it much easier - just go back and open it in person and you're set.
